If you could have a freeware engine/simulator for producing levels/content of your own (like StepMania), but for any kind of game out there...
WHAT POPULAR GAME WOULD YOU LIKE IT FOR?
Personally, I'd love a good Sonic The Hedgehog or MegaMan (/X) level editor. Maybe one for old-school Castlevania, too.
I'd also like a character editor for the free-roaming PS2-era Spider-Man (plus Web of Shadows) games - mostly to include more playable heroes.

I thought they would have already come up with an open source/user generated Kinect dance game.

Sonic The Hedgehog
It exists, you just have to look for it.Also as much as I love the F-Zero X track editor, I REALLY want it for GX. Failing that, a track designer for a serious sim racing game. Like GT5's track generator, but much better.

ReRave.
Also, jubeat and REFLEC BEAT. I can find "simulators" but I can never get them to work right.
Edit: ohwait, popular game? How popular does it have to be?

If it's something anyone from this forum wouldn't have heard of, I'd link it. OTT, it's all gravy.
Looking back, I miss having Get Medieval, which was a nifty Gauntlet spinoff that came with a self-contained level editor and randomizer as well...
