Okay, so some of you might know (well, maybe) that I had been working on a computer generated poetry book for a while now. The poetry itself was generated rather quickly but clipart and the like as well as having a family to look after and a full time job has been taking away from the time needed to finish this.

I already has an ISBN reserved through Amazon and pending approval of the content, should be up not too long after they OK it.

In the meantime, though. I would *really* appreciate if anyone would take a look at the first few pages and check for any stupid errors and the like. The poetry itself is purposely flawed but my foreword shouldn't be.

You can PM me or get a hold of me on facebook or on AIJ as well.

And some samples for you if you haven't already seen it (I have a couple others in my FB gallery somewhere)

So far, the mistake(?) I've noticed is...

Quote
...the game in which a surrealistic story is created filing in blanks at random and then inserting them into a text template.

Do you mean "...in which a surrealistic story is created by filling in blanks..."?

Fairly certain university isn't supposed to be capitalized unless you include the whole name of the university.

Other than the points given above, though, I can't find anything else. Excited to hear that this book is nearing completion Happy

Okay, the book is in Amazon's hands and their team is checking for legal problems as well as if the PDF(s) I sent can be physically printed and match the dimensions of the book/paper.

I was told it would take up to 48 hours to get an "OK" or "you done messed up legally, change this" (probably only for images though; the poetry is 100% original content)

Pricing is a new issue. Other poetry books of this size or smaller go for up to $12 to $15 on Amazon but I may be happy selling it for as little as $10. Thoughts? (I don't want to let you know what my cost on printing/binding is since that undermines my sales). I'm not trying to scam anyone but I'd like to think that the time I took out of the past year+ is worth at least a couple dollars.

Also, as a rule on Amazon and their book covers, there is no side binding printing for books less than 130 pages (this is 96 pages), which means the sideways "AIJBOT POETRY Aaron R Chmielowiec" won't get printed on the cover binding but everything else is fine. It shouldn't affect things too much except for not being able to see the text on the binding if you stack your books. A bit of an annoyance, but them's the Amazon rules. Putting in 30 blank pages just to get a binding print would jack up the cost of printing the book anyways.

EDIT>

Amazon AOK'd the book. They said I should address a few small concerns but legally it is fine and physically, it fits within all printable margins so there should be no problem.

After fixing this problems, I'll need to resubmit the book inner contents (again) and then I should be able to put it up on the Amazon marketplace page soon after. In any case, even if I don't get all the changes finished tonight, I may be able to get this on Amazon by the end of the week.

* For those interested, the problems are:

Quote
The cover file meets our submission requirements; it is not necessary for you to make any revisions to this file or upload it again.

The Interior file meets our submission requirements; it is not necessary for you to make any revisions to this file or upload it again.

Additionally, we have noted the concerns listed below. You may choose to move forward with the below issues as-is; however, we wanted to bring them to your attention.

The first page of the printed book will be a right-facing, odd page. The document is currently set up so that even page numbers will appear on the right, and odd page numbers will appear on the left. You may wish to add a blank page before the text begins to correct the pagination.

The interior file contains images that range from 91 to 95 DPI, which may appear blurry and pixelated in print. For optimal printing, we recommend all images be at least 300 DPI. Examples of Pages with low-resolution images include but are not limited to: PDF page 58, 17

Also, a few things I caught were two separate page numbering schemes taking over (a separate one in the foreword from the main poetry section) and there are a few 2 page poems that require a page turn instead of being spread over the left and right page so I rearranged the order slightly to accomodate that.

FURTHER UPDATE>

So far, the closed review of the AIJBot Poetry book has been amazing. I'm so surprised there are so many people that really enjoy it, even at Amazon.

My only concern now is how it will look when it is finally on paper (pagination). It should be fine according to the PDF but reality has bitten me before on things like this. The DDR book was fine barring a small error with a picture caption in the first printing but pagination wasn't so important for that book.

I *could* put it on Amazon right this minute but I'm waiting to see if Amazon will take a bank transfer as payment for a proof copy. I'm hesitant for the buyers of the book to be the first ones to see how it finally looks on paper.

In any case, the book is ready unless anyone else spots any last minute emergency error/nuance with numbering or formatting somewhere.

I'll post details here, ZIV, my FB and my blogger page when it is finally released or you can ask questions about it anytime.

LAST BIG EDIT>

Here is where I am:

* The files/book on Amazon has been approved for printing/copyright
* It has been reviewed by a closed group and the PDF contents were well received
* I needed to order a "proof" copy before I could authorize it for sale on Amazon
* I have no valid credit card ATM but I tried ordering one anyways since I have no other payment method they accept
* They accepted and shipped it?! <- Email from them says so, anyways

Once I have the book in my hands and I am *positive* it looks fine, I'll open it up on Amazon and the Createspace market pages.

If anything fails along the way, I can always put it up on lulu.com like I did with the DDR book. I don't need to order a proof copy for that, anyways *and* they take Paypal (and other payment methods)

Also, there is a createspace page for the book that is currently unannounced. Anyone have any ideas to spice it up?

I'm on Amazon:

Also, purchases can be made through Createspace:

Finally, I set up a Facebook page for the book:
