"DDR II! " |
I have an idea for a new music video game. But since I don't know how to make that idea into a reality, I want a well-known video game maker to make it into a reality. And by someone else, I mean KONAMI. It's called "Birdsong". I call it that because when you hit the right notes, a bird of your choice will tweet the notes you hit. Before I write a business letter to KONAMI with the info I have from my thoughts, I want suggestions from you guys at Z-i-V. Some ideas I have are:
170 songs total (24 Licenced Tracks, 32 KOs, 24 BEMANI Crossovers, & 90 KOs/Crossovers via Unlock System)
This game is a high-scoring game with max score being 1,000,000,000! (1 billion)
3 difficulties: Average, Medium, & Super.
Chart rating scale from 1 to 200!
6 Sound Directors, each of them have NEVER been a Sound Director in a BEMANI game: GUHROOVY, S.S.D., TECHNORCH, Neko Mata Master, Gekidan Record, & Butapunch.
Similar to IIDX & pop'n music, each song is classified into a Genre. Genres range from 80'S MEME (That's right. "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley is one of the Licenced Tracks.) to GRINDCORE ("RUBBER CHICKEN" by Ryu* vs. Asaki, a KO.) to SPEED CORE! ("MVA" by L.E.D.-G from pop'n music 19: TUNE STREET)
Unlock system called "BIRDS OF A FEATHER". This unlock system is divided into 15 phases. For each phase, you must play a song, followed by another song, then the FINAL STAGE, EXTRA STAGE, OMES, & ULTIMATE BIRD STAGE.
If you are wondering what ULTIMATE BIRD STAGE means, it's basically DDR's OMES rules applied to another game.
I'll tell more ideas later. Now, it's up to you to come up with more & I'll tell you if those are ideas I have or not.

birdmania IIDX?
It seems to me like a weird mix between REFLEC BEAT, beatmania and birds, given that I'm imagining it to be a game where you tap the birds on a touch screen in order to play a note. And, call me crazy, but I don't think that FLOWER would sound very nice with birds singing along.
CHIRP CHCHIRP CHCHIRP CHCHCHCHCHCHCHCHIRP CHCHIRP CHCHIRP
Nekomata Master songs might be able to incorporate it pretty well, though. Go for it, I say, you already have a "no" from them, all you can get is a "yes."

How exactly would one play this game?
Would this be in arcades or on consoles? Or both?
EDIT: Ignore the first question, I'm stupid.

I only put the hardcore songs there just for lulz.
Come on! Wouldn't a bird tweeting speedcore be funny as hell?

You guys don't need to rate him down, jeez.
Here's some constructive criticism.
That's an awful lot for the first edition of a game, especially when it comes to Konami Originals.
That rating scale is way too wide. It's hard to imagine that not being really confusing.
Well, besides the fact that some of those guys are not even Konami employees, that seems difficult. Also, six sound directors is way too much.
Also, you've not really provided enough info on the game to make it seem different from any other games. It just kind of sounds like any BEMANI games with bird noises.

That wouldn't be funny at all, just annoying.
Regarding the scale, MGD3 did it already, we don't such a wide range in another series.
No music game has ever had 6 directors, why should this one?

MORE INFO AS PIE REQUESTED
Remember that hoax at the IIDX 8th style loc test with "M" by DJ TAKA? Well, that's 1 of the KOs.
Other KOs feature remixes of WATCHINGOUT, OVER THE CLOUDS, WHITE BIRDS, & robin.
You can choose between 16 birds to tweet the notes: Raven, Jay (Blue jay), Robin, Falcon, Woody (Woodpecker), Baldie (Eagle), Turk E., Chik (Chicken), Pidge (Pigeon), Chik A.D., Oriole, Hawk, Swan, C. Gull, Polly (Parrot), & Keet (Parakeet).
A KO in the Unlock Syetem would be TaQ's 1st contribution to BEMANI since IIDX 10th style!
Features a remix of smooooch (which is an unlock.) called hickeeeey. (Get it? Smooch? Hickey?)
Grading scale from low to high:
F E D C B A AA AAA S SS SSS AAAA.
Speed mods go from x0.25 to x15 in increments of 0.25.
This will be AC, with versions for Wii, XBox 360, & PS3.
There are 2 collabs between Ryu* & Asaki: RUBBER CHICKEN, & ROBOT CHICKEN.
Will also feature NAKATEK for the 1st time since pop'n 6 CS, AND ASLETICS for the 1st time since IIDX 10th style!
The debut of nc outside of DDR AS WELL AS Kida Shunsuke outside of pop'n music! (with the exception of playing guitar for "jet coaster*girl")
That's all I have right now.

That pun sucks and bites.

(Also, I think hickeys would be a little more risque than the cutesy act of smooching...

In the bird-related songs, what about Snow Goose by Mutsuhiko Izumi?

I could see this working as an independent flash game with actual birds making noises rather than them chirping anyting resembling popular music. Perhaps some kind of simulation in that one's song will attract other birds which could unlock some kind of bird army to alter the ecosystem which the birds inhabit.
Then again Bemani games have been based on some odd concepts as of late so many something involving smacking a fake bird attached to a flexible rod to some kind of beat might could be the next bemani game.

Look, I like how you've got all the music sorted out, but I still don't understand the mechanics of the game. To me, it still sounds like pop'n with pop-kun sounds all set to birds.
Do notes scroll to targets (DDR, IIDX, REFLEC BEAT), do targets scroll to notes (Technika), or do they simply appear at targets (jubeat, ReRave, osu!)?
What demographic is this game aiming to draw? 6- to 12-year-olds? Young adults? Girls? Boys?
Is it a multiplayer game? Can two or more play on the same machine?
How will the game work with the control schemes of the three home consoles? How is the AC set up?
How will mods (such as speed mods) work?
How will bird charts at higher levels challenge the player in different ways? Parallels to stream/voltage/air/freeze/chaos like DDR? More complicated twitch patterns like jubeat?

Is it OK if I call you Telly?
The notes scroll to targets. Birdsong is aiming for people of ALL ages! There WILL be multi-player. HOWEVER, The multi-player mode here is similar to jubeat. (Meaning, 2+ people CAN play, but on seperate machines. Or in CS case, over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, XBox LIVE, & PlayStation Network.) The 1st sub-question I'm not sure what that means, but for the 2nd sub-question, The AC will look like a forest with fake birds in it. You step in on 1 side so you can play. Just like the DDR AC, you can access the options before the song, except on Birdsong there's a special Options button. Like I said earlier, THIS GAME IS NOT LIKE JUBEAT! There is something called the "Tweets Chart". Looks somewhat similar to the Groove Radar, but there are 6 points instead of 5. (Stream, Power Chord, Holds, Life Gauge, Fast Press, & Wipeout.
