So you get a mission with RUDL for a stepzone. Do you rotate your pad? Do you look in a mirror and play backwards? Do you deal with it and try, try again? Do you use a controller? This thread is basically going to be about the different techniques you use for those darn missions no one can pass. Here's some suggestions:
Stepzone
"Do not step on __ arrow"
False Doubles
For some reason, those always gave me the most trouble. Most were resolved with controller cheats and lots of tries (lookin' at you, Vem Brincar false doubles!!) So what do you do for these "impossible" missions?

For Vem Brincar false doubles (I've never tried this), but it might work to cross your eyes.
Also, for "Do not step on __ arrow", I usually resort to generally blocking it out of my vision in some way. I sometimes cover the entire column in aluminum foil.

Stepzone is like when some arrows get pushed down or scattered, or also when they get mixed around like RDUL. A nightmare, really.

For stepzone missions I usually mush through. I just keep trying until I get it. There isn't THAT much you can do to make them much easier. However, for RDUL missions (if any of those exist), just flip the pad over.

I always unlock songs and missions via controller, then play them in free mode with the pad. Some of those absurd missions are just outrageous, even with the pad! But when it comes to the wacky stepzones, I try to use my head, quite literally, by tilting it to the side. I've turned or twisted the controller around, but it's really uncomfortable to play. Though something I think I might try, is looking at a video of someone AAA'ing the song that the mission is, instead of the actual TV screen.

I take the stepchart into edit mode to remove the arrows I'm not supposed to hit, memorize the rhythm, and succeed at the mission for the missions that ask you to avoid stepping on an arrow.

If the mission song's chart is the same but the arrow layout or mods are screwed up, I'd just watch it on YouTube on my laptop. Timing the video is a tad tricky, though; just hafta get it on the right beat.

"Looking at youtube or something while playing": I do something similar. I take my Dualshock2, go away from the TV and sit infront of my laptop, turn on stepmania and go to the song in question in edit mode, and play while the song on stepmania is autoplayed. I try to do this if it's really hard, otherwise, I'll keep trying.

What is false doubles anyway? Is it when the stepzone shows the one for double and we play it like when we do a single play?

I always think I'm playing single although the stepzone is double, so I think it's all about mindset.

"MAKE IT! MAKE MONEY!" |
For any missions where the steps are flipped arounf from LDUR to RUDL, I just use one of these 2 techniques. I either flip the pad around and look at the TV and play the mission, or when I flip the pad around, I set up a mirror, look the other way (like the pad is) and do the mission. I remember in EXTREME, that one mission for Frozen Ray (I think that's what it's called) where there's RUDL steps. And the song speeds up at places, I just used one of those techniques ^.^

^Mission 98
Took me exactly 100 tries...
Frozen Ray, 8th triplets, note color arrows, reverse, speed up, RUDL, sudden death. This actually wasn't the last mission I passed. I think it was Mission 90 or something... Pink Rose on brake, get a hella lot of perfects.

SN2 CS with Eternus randomly disappearing/appearing arrows? Ugh, just ended up videotaping a regular playthrough and then mimicking the steps.
