User Ratings going crazy

So I have been noticing for a while that almost every time I visit my user rating changes. For a while its has just been staying the same but more recently its been going nuts. Like at one time I will be at 188 and then when I go on again I will be at 223 like I am right now. There is no way I can be receiving that many ratings from users that fast that would affect my user rating that fast. Its usually in a matter of hours and even minutes too. I was wondering if its just me or if other people are having similar problems as well and report it if its a bug or site problem.

I've been seeing fluctuations of ~0.3 to ~1.1 recently on my own rating. I assumed that was normal, accounting that when people who've rated you have their rating changed, yours is also affected.

I realize that but were not talking about just a couple points here... We are talking about almost 30. I wouldn't be concerned otherwise but I think that's pretty absurd.

If someone with a high rating suddenly gave you +5, that would raise your rating very quickly.

I could be very wrong on this, but if a member is not active in X number of days, then the ratings he/she gave to people go back to 0. In other words, there could be jumps if people are not active on the site anymore.

My rating doubled for a few days but now it's back to normal.

I went from 48.8 to 95.7 about two days ago and then the next day it dropped to 53 point something.

ya but I'll come back and visit the site and its back to its lower level. This has been confusing me for a while - maybe its supposed to happen but I haven't noticed it doing this until more recently.

I know what happens when your rating doubles. Basically if two people rate someone at exactly the same time, the system blehs and for some reason it counts each rating twice. Basically, if it happens, just fiddle with anyone's rating +/- 1 and it'll come back.

As for the ratings going down, if a user isn't active for 90 days all of their ratings reset to zero. Which can have a pretty strong impact if a couple of high-rated ones have given you 5s.

There have also been moments when my rating got doubled, and then went back to the original numbers. I find it hard to believe that someone would have such a huge rating power that a +5 would DOUBLE my rating from ~120 to ~240...

That was a bug that should have been fixed with file locking in the cache files, but if it happens again, do let me know...

me too, my rating is from 13.6 to (about) 23.6

omg, it's just a bug. It comes and goes. Don't get too happy about going up 10 points.

Unless it's red, quit worrying about your rating.
