Quasar is finally complete, though perhaps streamlined to fit the deadline. This new sequel will have more songs, more BEMANI crossovers, and more content overall! Here's the current planned songlist:
Bushfire - The B-52's
Clocks - Coldplay
Do That Thang - Masai
Fijate Bien - Juanes
Get This Party Started - P!NK
Hands Clean - Alanis Morissette
I Don't Feel Like Dancin' - Scissor Sisters
Judas - Lady Gaga
La Tortura - Shakira feat. Alejandro Sanz
Orange Crush - R.E.M.
Pon De Replay - Rihanna
Rock Beat (2010 Radio Edit) - Loud Force
Sk8er Boi - Avril Lavigne
So Sick - Ne-Yo
The Edge of Glory - Lady Gaga
Tubthumping (2010 Radio Edit) - Chumbawumba
Enter the Fray - Cleod9
Aegis - IT Medallion
ALL MY TURN - Super Star -Mitsuru-
B4U (BEMANI FOR YOU MIX) - Remixed by DJ YOSHITAKA with Michael a la mode
Chain - RAM
Himiko - Suzaku vs Genbu
Romeo & Juliet - Lolita
Some of you may recognize the songs from Galxium's plans, Quasar's Arcade version, and cancelled songs from Quasar.
The category will be private during production. One of the main criticisms of my simfiles are the graphics, so if you would like to assist, post here or PM me!
Latest News (9/17/11): This thread has been renamed and repurposed. This game is now called Quasar 2, with some different tunes that were planned for Galaxium and Quasar (Arcade).

The remix, or the original? Whichever one you stepped, I'll take the other.

Ah, don't worry about it. At least this way we can compare our files when they come out.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7hew2kXHzE You can't find a loose MP3 of it anywhere I know, but you can find it in the "Higher" album on 4shared. Good luck stepping it!

I don't know, it seems to stereotypically "Emerald Sword"-ish (Too much metal, high vocals). My mixes are pop-aimed, and this goes against my style. I might try in free time (Which I don't really have too much of), but don't expect it in my mixes. If you wanted it for Blazemix, then I could do it.

It seems interesting, just going to have to find the audio and at least put a censor on "junkies".
By the way, I'm aspiring to have high quality audio (256 to 320-ish; 192 is an okay goal), but the way I do it now is not very efficient, as it only saves 160 kb/s oggs and 128 kb/s mp3s. My source audio has usually not too great either until recently, when I've been getting stuff straight from the disc. What I'm asking is if anyone is able to work on this project specializing at getting high quality audio and being able to save it in high quality.
I remember Chewi mentioning Tyma and others, so would any of you want to support this project?

If you have the original CDs there are a lot of programs that you can use. Audacity is a good cross platform program, iTunes will also work well. MediaCoder is also good if you have Windows.
If you need help I can find the time to convert audio for you... depends on what I have (can get).
P.S. Why are you censoring music for this project?

Actually, I use both Audacity and iTunes, for cutting and ripping the audio, respectively. However, I can't save the audio in a higher quality than 16 kb/s, and the LAME mp3 encoder only seems to save to 128 kb/s, living to its namesake. Anyone know what I'm doind wrong here?
Also, I'm aiming for this game (along with Quasar) to be E 10+, similar to the current DDR games. Therefore, definitely no a,d,f,s,h,sl, or any curse words in songs, along with no major references to drugs or sex (I guess I'm more restraining than Konami, apparently...) It's kind of nerve wracking when you try what seems to be a great new pack of songs, and one of the songs is something like LMFAO's Lil Hipster Girl. When I played Chewi's version of that, my hair stood a little! At least with my pack, tweens and teens into DDR have nothing to worry about.

If you're ripping with iTunes (which version are you running?) switch the ripper to MP3 and then the settings to Custom. Should be allowed to choose up to 320kbps for .mp3s.
If Audacity, straight from the .aiff files on the CD, go to their website and download the latest stand-alone LAME codec pack. While you're there make sure you're using the latest beta of Audacity. I think development has frozen on Audacity, sadly. I've been using that beta build for years without issue and it works better if you have Vista or 7 or a more recent OS X.
I can rip and cut music for you just fine but it's up to you to slap [beeps] into the songs yourself. I don't believe in censorship.

No, no, I do that with iTunes, it was saving cuts that was the problem. However, thank you for the advice about LAME codecs. Also, the point of the "censorship" is for it not to sound like censorship (Dj scratch, Fade to rhythm, etc.). I agree, I don't like straight out censorship, just sneaky ones.

I wish you luck on both of your projects. However, I think that you should finish QUASAR first before even worrying about a sequel.

GET REAL
(I think you should learn to finish something before planning to make a sequel. This is not how games are made,
unless you have years of actual industry experience behind you.)

Which is why I haven't touched this thread with additions for a while. Notice that some of the songs planned for Galaxium have been moved to Quasar? I've already realized this, and I would delete this thread until the time comes.
