"My paw is incompurrable!" |
I was wondering about this. In DDR X arcade edit mode, can it play edits all the way from CS DDR 1st or DDRMAX?
And how do I get the edits from my PS2 with the USB? Do i just plug it in the PS2?
Oh and I'm from the Philippines so I would also like to ask what specific shop can I buy a 3rd party USB that Konami suggests? (And let me know what kind of USB is that shop selling)
Also, I'm curious about the failing mechanics of DDR X. In DDR Supernova 2, when your gauge is empty, you'll get a stage fail at the end of the music during the first stage. (In some machines, you'll get a stage fail at the end of the music in the next stages if you haven't failed at the previous stages). In DDR X and X2, will you still get a stage fail at the end of the music during the first stage only?
(And yes, I copied this off of what I just posted in bemanistyle.com. Apparently, all I got was some attention w**** who posted the same post. Looks like a viral account.)

With regards to failing - depends on what the arcade operators have set as the fail conditions.
Having never played X, I can't say exactly how failing works on that, but I know with SN2 when I played it I could quite happily fail my first stage immediately.

First, yes. All you need is the game that has the song you want to edit. Then you can export it and thru X JP CS, import it to your library and then export to USB.
I haven't tried with PS1 games and non JP games, it might work.
I think any USB will do, as long as it's detectable by Windows XP.
And last, IIRC, X will fail you at the end of the stage on the first stage only, but as 8ft says, it depends on the fail conditions.

There is a white list of devices as far as DDR X is concerned:
http://www.konami.jp/bemani/ddr/jp/link/list.html
There's no reason I can think of to believe the list is any different for DDR X2.

Oh yeah, I've got a question too. Will a USB with edit data from X JP work in X2?

Silverhawke> X2 reads all my edits that I made for X (JP). Edit data made with DDREditMax2 also works, as there are edit data charts for the RDA songs and other songs not in any CS version.

Edit data charts for songs not in any CS version? Does that mean I can play edits of Hottest Party songs in DDR X even if they never made it in the PS2 versions? And when you mean DDREditMax2, you're referring to your edits in DDRMAX2 CS, correct?

Ok since you are in the Philippines I'm assuming you have a DDR X Asian version. First off do you have the japanese DDR X for the ps2?
Second if you do have the old edits and the old ddr games you can transfer the data by putting it to output mode. Like if you were going to play it on the old ps memory cards. Copy the ps1 memory output to the ps2 card. Then on DDR X you can save it back onto the library data. Then transfer it out to the USB.
And DDREditmax2 is referring to an online program editor that can make the ps data. But you need like a 3 or 2 step process from your computer to your ps/ps2 memory card.
Also when you do transfer it make sure the EDIT_DAT.(#) the # is either J or A, and it's most likely A for an your cabinet.
And no, American edit data is STUPIDLY not compatible with the Asian/Japanese data.

As Silverhawke said, DDR X accept ANY kinds of USB drive. Also with the EDIT DATA inside.

I think DDR X & DDR X2 have the same Operating System & same engine.
The difference only at interface & songs...

Thanks for that. I do have the JP version of DDR X.

EDIT: Sumo'd due to school wi-fi being more of an ass than usual.
Here's a question that's been bugging me. I will be using the Web Editor to create the edit charts. I've heard stories that simply renaming the file will not work. Is it true?

Yes that is true. You can assumptually (Not a real word) switch from UK to US. Like Asia to Japanese. Yeah I've tried and cried a lot. T_T Stupid edit data not being universally coded.

I wanted to make edits for e-motion plus others that might come up in the later weeks to put in an asian X2 machine. But, oh well.

e-motion is on club mix append 1 I believe. I think I still have my disc. But I need to find it in a pile of like 40 cds.
Sad part is I don't know if they might release X2 for the ps2/3. So editing newer songs are out of the question on the JP/AS cabinet. If you got a US/UK I hear they going to re-release a newer version of the edit data online.

If my USB has other files than the DDR edits, will the machine still read the whole USB?

As long as it's set up properly DDR_EDIT <folder> >>> DDR_EDIT_DAT.# <file>. Though it's not recommended with extra information on it. There's a clause saying Konami is not responsible for the damage to your usb or data. Also if there are more then one set up with the same name I think it just takes the top most one. I didn't want to screw around with my usb so don't quote me on the last one.

All the files have to be named as DDR_EDIT_DAT.# (# replaced as A for Asian) right?

Actually it only reads that one file. The first one/only one named DDR_EDIT_A.DAT . Seriously I have like 5 file names in that folder. a U, A, A(1), J, and some other stuff.
Oh crud I wrote that wrong. It's DDR_EDIT_J.DAT change that J to an A. And Make sure that DDR_EDIT <folder> is on the top of your usb list. Like not hidden in another folder.
And um did you compile 30 songs into one data file? And not individually? Cuz that's just a waste of space and you'd have to change a whole bunch of files one by one every time you want to play a different one.
You can only do one 30 song library into the DAT file using the PS2 X2 CS. But I did all my files and bring my laptop to the arcade to switch out. (renaming the file after I transfered it on the ps2 then putting on another library folder)
Sorry if that didn't make sense.
