"Charlie isn't real" |
So i have an idea...a pretty "interesting" yet possibly LONG project if it's considered.
I got this idea from both LittleBigPlanet 2, Kongregate, and just as a thought for how we can get more members from NOT just DDR or BEMANI, but for a complete music gaming audience to get more involved with the site and the games that we talk about so very much on this site.
So here is what i had in mind, and this is open for discussion as well:
Have a "badge/pin" system that awards the member a "badge/pin" for accomplishing something that involves the game that they own, for example, if they own DJ Hero, they can get something for achieving a 5 star on Groundhog (Beat Juggle) WITHOUT using Euphoria or Rewinds (or to make it simple, just copy pasta the trophy/achievements from the game and use that as badges). Plus you can throw a bit of a "Challenge" badge/pin for ZIv member to do, like for DDR, you can have a member play a song with said speed mods or options and call it....uuhhhh "Max's Challenge" or something like that...
ALSO the badges don't give you anything/they won't boost your user rating by much of anything, basically the badges are there just for record keeping/"show". As for what the badges can do for you, i had something along the lines of "Status name" a.k.a if you get a lot of badges for Rock Band, You can get the option of having a status name on your user tab like "Guitar Expert" or "Vocals Expert" or "50 FC Expert" or something along those lines. If you play more than two games and get a lot of badges for these two games, you can have the option of choosing either or, whichever game you think fits more for you.
^ Speaking of that last part, there would probably have to be a "team" of moderators to oversee how the badges get distributed/who makes up the badges and the requirements for getting said badge. Probably check for pictures or video (if necessary for a requirement) to determine if they get the badge or not (invalid if they used cheats or stole a picture or something.)
I have ideas for these games:
- Dance Dance Revolution (Could be a problem though if we do INDIVIDUAL MIX for both AC and CS...have to think this one through, plus if the CS version get involved, we can also do badges for Workout Mode and Edit Mode[?].)
- Beatmania IIDX
- Pop N' Music
- Rock Band
- Guitar Hero
- DJ Hero
I ALSO had some ideas for the site too (something along the lines of registering for the first time, getting a user rating of 10, 50, 100, 200, 300, 500, until 1000, First 10 posts, 100 posts, until 1000 GOOD posts, uploading a simfile, writing a review on a game, donating to the site, and other ideas).
Now that the idea's been put out, here are the bad sides to it:
- we would need more than just one person to come up with badges/pins for EACH achievement. Main problem right here.
- THIS WOULD TAKE LOOOOOOOOOOONG TO BUILD.
- Elitism a.k.a "i have more badges than you so i am more expert hur durrrrrrrrrr :v"
- The status name idea sounds WAAAAAY too complicated and can really be both confusing and can start "wars" over which game is better and all that stuff :/
- The idea seems good, but implementing it would be WAAAY to complicated in the long run.
I want to hear what you guys think about this idea, should it be considered, canned, have it thought more thoroughly, or just ignore the f*** out of it and never dare open this thread again or AgentP will never get to see the light of day again.

"OMG KON!" |
I already requested something like this as I see some websites adding a feature like this to them more often. The feedback on my system was well received at the same time it wasn't and upon further inspection I can see why. It causes problems for the website and users sometimes. You also have to think how it would be integrated into the website... Mine was basically based on using features on Z-I-V and posting in the forums (such as post 100 times in the forum this year, Add 10 scores to the DDR score tracker and Add yourself to a arcade you have visited). It doesn't sound like Al wanted to put my ideas into affect on the website so I guess my idea was pretty much scrapped. I always thought the idea would have been nice to show new users the features of Z-I-V while at the same time keeping already existing users wanting to come back. I still have a list of "Site achievements" saved on my computer if another website wanted to use my ideas or if Al changed his mind ever but I don't think I am gonna see it ever put to use in all honesty
