"OMG KON!"
Alright so I was recently talking to my friend about Dancing Stage and he told me that there was actually one song on Dancing Stage 1.5 that actually had more then two arrows pressed at once. The song is Uh La La La by Alexia apparently. I tried to make a search for it to see if its true but nothing really came up except for statements that it does indeed have more then two arrows at once. Does anyone have proof of this? Like a video or simfile by any chance? It would be really interesting to have a look at!

I had a simfile, but lost it when I formatted my desktop's HDD before moving its contents to my laptop. I do remember the S-Heavy chart having three arrows in error. IIRC, it was a Left-Down-Right step.

Which reminds me, I have to ask a friend of mine if she kept her Stepmania setup as I supplied her with some songs, including the Dancing Stage 1.5 set.

Oh wow, this is retro. I don't have the simfile anymore, but the song is basically one giant stream with jumps in it and it's clear they just offset one of the jump arrows to another one, resulting in, I believe, a left/right/down combo all at once.

I think it's intentional. because Uh La La La is essentialy a boss song. The whole song is waaay harder than anything Japan had seen at that point, and it's probably the hardest song in the series up until DDRMAX. Even when DDR Extreme was out, I saw a lot of people at DDR meet-ups who would get all excited about seeing a DS1.5, and being able to play the mythical "Uh La La La", and then get thrown completely off-guard and fail it within a few bars. It was very, very hard, and the "triple step" wasn't the reason it was hard ^^;

I think that whoever did the steps intended to make it the harder than Paranoia, and just assumed that streams consisting of nothing but jumps, and pressing 3 arrows at once was the next logical step in terms of difficulty, and that it would become a normal thing for 8-footers.

Someone obviously put an end to that pretty quickly, although the next game in the series (DDR Solo Bass Mix) had a song where you had to hit four arrows at once ^^;

Ya but on solo it could easily be done because they only included the two diagonal arrows, left, right and up. There is absolutely no need to use your hands.

Nobody ever hit the "triple" in Uh La La La with their hands. They either bracketed, or jumped down onto the middle of the stage as hard as possible, to trigger all 4 arrows.

Hitting panels with hands is something that started in Pump around 3rd Mix, and was only done in freestyle routines. Nobody would ever kneel down or lean forwards and hit them, the way ITG players do. It wasn't until ITG that it became an accepted way of doing it, because ITG's charts seem designed to make it harder to bracket.

Here's a really good video of top level pump players doing "hands", including a couple of instances of hitting 4 arrows at once. This is pretty much how everyone did "hands" up until ITG.

DDRUK's stepchart for Uh La La La is wrong - the notes are one 8th too late IIRC.

Secondly, while Uh La La La could be considered harder than most songs at the time, I still say it's easier than CSFILSM and a lot of 3rd Mix's SSR difficulty songs

I'd say that Uh La La La is a 12 on the X Scale.

Also, my old Edit chart beats the official one. :V
