Since DDR PS1 and Konamix should work on the PS3, has anyone tried using the PS3 pad with the old games?

assuming the ps3 translates the controls correctly, there shouldn't be any reason as to why not.
I don't have a ps3 though.

I tried playing Konamix on my PS3 but that was before DDR PS3 came out and it was extremely laggy.

And you would have to have an old PS3 with backward compatibility support. The new ones don't play ANYTHING except PS3 games IIRC.

They do. I bought mine last month and I was playing Crash Bandicoot on it last week, which I had the disk for over a decade.

They work great on my PS3 but the timing was way off when I tried.

So PSone but no PStwo... and obviously software emulation due to time-based games being thrown off.
It's worth it to still have a PS2 lying around. Can't beat the size of the PlayStation 2 library + native PSone support. In Japan games stores still sell PStwo slims.

As do they here. I mean honestly, I can't believe sony cocked up the backwards compatibility. Their console was meant for the masses, and by making it ridiculously expensive and so new it outstrips their existing userbase, people like me just can't be assed with it.

When I think of it too, it puzzles me why they wouldn't put more emphasis on that feature. I mean the game library for the PS2 is huge.
I haven't seen any statistics, but I would have to say the PS2 is the most commonly owned system.

Did I just warp back to 2007? It's 2011, the it thing now is rehashing 480i games and upscaling them to 720p and putting in trophies. That's your backwards compatible right there lol!
Thanks to the advent of multi-input TVs, I have my PS2 hooked up right next to the PS3. The only thing I wished is that my 7 year old Ignition 3.0 would work on the PS3 DDR game.

The funny thing is that people were running PS2 games in 1080p on their PS3s, before Sony introduced the patch that killed Linux. Obviously, PS2 software emulation works again now that users can install custom package files.
The PS3 isn't really powerful enough to emulate the PS2 very well, though, so I can understand why Sony wanted to use hardware emulation to do it. When they needed to cut the retail price of the PS3, the chips that are specific to PS2 emulation was one of the few things they could scrap, to bring the price down. Even after that, I think every PS3 still retails for less than the price it costs to produce?

It doesn't fix the timing. It's an issue of the frames drifting out of sync with the audio.

Dang... That's horrible. Does that apply to Ps2 DDR games on the ps3?
