Hi everyone! I'm not new at playing DDR (In fact, I played for 4 years and a half) and I would like soon to invest in a metal dance pad... I know that the Cobalt Flux is probably the best metal pad I can get, but I don't know if there is a better metal pad... so, maybe someone from the forums would be able to help me with this? Thanks!
As for the info, I am myself a Heavy/Expert player and I am at the level where even a foam dance mat isn't good for my level. I can play songs at 9 or 10 foot level (13 to 16 as with DDRX standards) Thanks!

"Oh god what I have dooooone?!" |
You could go for a hard foam mat, with the removable inserts, if you can't find anything else.
As for the cobalt flux, it pretty much IS the best you can get at the moment. Positive gaming have a pad but it's got expensive as hell shipping.
The ones from DDR game and ebay are alright, but they're quite likely to break down if you constantly play 10's. Some of them are just downright horrible.
The other option is to look for either used cobalt fluxes or used blue sharks on your local craigslist. They're solid enough to last through at least a few users, and easy enough to mod and repair that even a slightly broken one would work well.
Alternatively, go to the hardware forum/my signature and check out the 'build your own' option. There's a range of plans in my topic, aswell as the original homepad thread found on ddr freak. (If it will load for you, at least.)
I had to take the build your own route, simply because shipping one here would have cost god damn hundreds of dollars. And my pad has lasted yonks with a few minor repairs and cost less than $180.

"DDR-ing regularly again!~" |
I'd say buy an Afterburner from RedOctane, but the company website is gone. You could search for and Afterburner on Craigslist though because they are cheaper than the Cobalt Flux and work really well. You can view my YouTube channel here which has me playing on them: http://www.youtube.com/user/margomundo
The only problem I have with my mats are the static electricity which causes some issue, but it can be fixed via dryer sheets. I've had both mats for a year, and one has 2 cracked panels, but they still work great. I am currently considering putting lexan overtop of the panels to make them stronger.
