"Let's Do the Rain Dance" |
Last updated: 2012-01-20 06:07am
This is a brand new pack for all of you with Stepmania! I was inspired by various other simfile packs, like DDR MAX 3 and DDR Mania Mix, so I decided to make my own song set.
Here's the current songlist for the "PS2" Version, comprised of many Western licenses. This list also has the "Wii Update", adding several licenses to total 30:
19-2000 (Soulchild Remix) - Gorillaz
A Dios Le Pido - Juanes
Breed - Nirvana
Call Me - Blondie
Circus - Britney Spears
Evacuate the Dancefloor - Cascada
Eye of the Tiger - Survivor
Highs Off U (2010 Radio Edit) - 4 Reeel remixed by Scorccio
Jai Ho (Original Mix) - A. R. Rahman
Jai Ho (You Are My Destiny) - A. R. Rahman covered by The Pussycat Dolls
Las De La Intuicion - Shakira
Love Voodoo - Duran Duran
Policy of Truth - Depeche Mode
Rock 'n Roll (Pt. 2) - PHS MARCHING BAND
Technologic - Daft Punk
Torre De Babel - David Bisbal
Mind Gear - Cleod9
Sandstorm (xRGTMx Remix) - Darude remixed by AlphaOmega
Love is Eternity - kors k
Groovy Disco - AlphaOmega
EDIT (1/19/12): New songs are going to have a different mix, so the original release is final.

Oh god, no. Just no. I'll even take a restep of NGGYU over this. And I was going to step Groovy Disco, but I'll just step another song from that album.

I was bored, so I thought to make it for kicks. I get that he has haters, but I'm neutral on that topic.
EDIT: Besides, you haven't even seen the charts yet! The simfile is now up!
Sorry for the double post, but I have made a few additions to the pack.

EDIT: I guess it wasn't a double post though... and I forgot one more thing... Could someone please help me fix "Happy Together"?

I downloaded some of these files. You stepped A Dios Le Pido very Masterfully, that was simply amazing. But your video scripts are broken (references to VideoFS.avi and Video.avi). The only video in the .ZIP is A Dios Le Pido.avi. I assume this problem exists on all your others as well, consider fixing the video scripts and re-uploading.
I'm very interested in trying out your other files. Actually I downloaded Baby as well, and that was stepped really well also. The 4 stops should be just one bigger stop, and in honesty they aren't long enough to fix your Song-Cut error... I would also prefer normal DDR difficulty ratings instead of DDRX but whatever.
Overall I'm very impressed with your stepping ability.

About the videos: Yeah, when I was making them, I had a widescreen and a fullscreen version of most of the videos, so I referred to the them accordingly. It wasn't until after I uploaded them that I realized that this site automatically renames files.

About "Baby": The problem is that, if I make it one big stop, it'll look like a genuine stop, which I didn't want it to be (more of a subtle fix).
About X-ratings: I always preferred them because they're more specific, especially because my simfiles have crazy groove radars...

How about a slow-down instead of a STOP for that less-noticible fix. Personally I like to resolve song-cut errors ASAP so that everything is in-sync very precisely, so I use STOPS.
Cutting songs requires simple math. If the song has a constant BPM, you can easily convert Beats / Minute to Beats / Second, then INVERT to get Seconds / Beat.
When you have an idea of how much you want to cut on the song, multiply it by the Beats / Second number, to get # of beats (it'll be approximate since any song-cut errors will now be revealed in beats, just round to the nearest Beat (typically gonna be a multiple of 8). You can then multiply the # of beats by Seconds / Beat to get an EXACT value of how much you need to cut from the song and remain perfectly on-beat.
So for instance if the song is 130.000 BPM = 130/60 Beat/Sec = 60/130 Sec/Beat.
If you wanted to cut about 29.5 seconds from the song (or whatever sounded correct to you). Take 29.5 Sec * 130/60 Beat/Sec = 63.916 Beats, which means I really wanted to Cut 64.000 Beats from the song.
So 64 Beats * 60/130 Sec/Beat = 29.53846154 etc... seconds. So change your Song-Cut to precisely this value (as close as you can get), then Cut and Viola a Perfect Song-Cut.
Hope this helps, the math isn't as hard as it may seem, try it once or twice and you'll save yourself headaches in the future. It's also nice to determine the BPM of the song before you cut it, because the LONGER the song the more precise you can determine a constant BPM. Sure it takes more work, but good simfiles do, and judging by your step-charts you seem keen on quality.
Good Luck.

I get the advice, but I only use Audactiy, in which you select areas to cut by dragging, so it's pretty tough to be precise.

That sure is, try another program then otherwise you'll always have song-cut errors.
Also the lips match the video better if you adjust the beat that the BGChange begins in Torre De Babel, try this:
#BGCHANGES:-.4=Torre De Babel.avi=1.000=0=0=0,999=-=1.000=0=0=0;

You should zoom in on the area you want to cut which will expand the waveform giving you better control. I can make millisecond accurate cuts in Audacity, you can too.

For Baby the official song-cut error is 0.038, so you can make all 3 of the STOPs 0.012, 0.012, 0.014, instead of 0.020 0.020 0.020.
And I hate how you have Beginner SOLO, Beginner, Couples, Beginner Doubles, Beginner etc... You did that for every song you made, it's annoying to have worthless step-charts. But I still love your charts, I'm moving them from my WIP folder to my Dance Machine tonight so I'll finally be able to play them.
[Aside: I only play files that I re-sync and ensure quality control, videos must be 320x240 to prevent lagging, and everything must be perfectly synched with on-beat arrows etc. I ensure everything is proper BEFORE I place a simfile in my official library, at that point I check to see if I already have the song, if NO, then I move it to a themed folder and I note any Parental Guidance on the file such as language or sexual themes / racy videos etc, then it's officially part of my collection. If I have the song already then I play the two of them back to back and keep the one I liked better, videos help ALOT. I also change all difficulty values to the basic 1-14 foot scale (I don't see the point in a file over 14 because I can't pass any 14's yet anyways) for consistency. Yes the whole process takes alot of time, but the final product (dance machine with no flaws and perfect sync) is worth it to me, thanks for some great additions, I'll be sure to check out more of your work.]

(Goodbye, Head Over Feet. Hello, 666! Recent complaints about the simfile will be taken into account, and the simfile will resurface later.)

BUMP: Update for an older simfile!

There's now a new D-Basic chart, graphics, and other minor fixes.
I have a little surprise for you guys. While I'm making the pack, I'm also modifying a DDR X2 theme to my own style (No, I won't release it. If I do, TakuyaMaxx will have my hide.). One thing I've made is an intro video featuring the characters and some of the music videos. It's not the final version, but I hope you enjoy it...once you download it. Sorry, but I can't use a Youtube account, so I put it up for grabs on 4Shared. It's only 3 MB!
http://www.4shared.com/video/hwIr2yRf/QIntro.html
I now also have a preview of the theme that I edited for this game. Yes, it's a reskin of Sillybear's X2 Theme, so I can't release it. It does however show several songs I hadn't revealed up to now. Also, the songs from DDR X2 and older mixes are not showing up in the category (With the exception of Sandstorm and Cool For Cats, as they have new charts).
Still no Youtube, so you can view and download the song here: http://www.4shared.com/video/LInREJeV/Preview.html
More simfiles!

This one's new, evidenced by its video just being added to the intro shown in the preview.
You know, someone needs to post here... I've appended 4 posts into each other!

I've gotten Mind Gear approved and uploaded! Expect to see more Cleod9 in this or future projects!

YOU BROKE THE CHAIN! Have a trophy!
Just kidding, but I also have 2 bits of news. I was reevaluating my "Cool for Cats" chart, and I decided it's not worth it, so don't expect to see it in the category. Also, spring break is now 4/5 complete for me, and I've decided to do some cleaning. SM files that referenced videos incorrectly are fixed, along with junk charts deleted and other stuff!

Nice "Call Me" banner, and I guess you made your post when I edited mine. Your banner is now being used for guessing game-style WIP simfiles!
