Whenever I play with my dance pad, it doesn't let me hit more than one arrow once. Anyone know how to fix this?

Some adapters have the Up+Start+Select switch. Try holding them for 3 seconds.

I tried doing that and it still won't let me hit more than one arrow.

The issue is likely the arrows registering as the analog. When that happened to me, I plugged it in to a different USB slot and it started registering as the D-pad again.

Some adapters are also "lazy" and assume you won't be hitting up/down or left/right on the D-pad at the same time. This happened with an adapter I bought...I was pretty annoyed.

Yeah, most adapters don't support the two opposite arrows on the D-Pad. You are always safest buying a dance pad with native USB connection. Sometimes they're sold as 3-in-1 with GameCube PS2 USB, although it can be PS2, XBox, Gamecube, or even PS1, PS2, Gamecube (when they cheat because PS1 and PS2 are identical), so make sure it has a native USB connection. I recommend staying away from pads that are sold with an adapter as well, less lag if you buy a pad with direct USB connection, and always buy two pads at once to save on shipping with most e-bay sellers.Post #7 · Posted at 2010-10-04 08:30:52am 13.6 years ago

If you aren't obsessive about pinpoint accurate timing and/or aren't someone that AAA/PFCs often, then the Super Joy Box 3 should work pretty well, as that's what I use. The only issue is that it's out of stock as of the time of this post, so you may have to find it elsewhere if you're trying to get it now. Also, the Dual one can have issues when two controllers are plugged in (especially IIDX controllers), and the four controller one is apparently horrible for multiple controllers.Post #9 · Posted at 2010-10-04 09:55:41am 13.6 years ago

You have a metal dance pad that is PS2 only???I thought you were talking soft pad. In that case use the StepMania list of functional adapters and find one of those that are approved. I had an adapter for years that worked fine, it was something like EMS USB 2 but it eventually failed and they didn't make them anymore. It was black and I was able to plug in two pads at once, as far as adapters go I loved it, but moved onto USB only dance pads (home-made).

Beware some of these USB Adapter sellers claim their products work with dance mats and they really DO NOT, so read the recommendations carefully!!!

Yeah, my adapter doesn't work. Oh well, I guess I could always buy one that does. They aren't that expensive. I think it would be better than buying a whole new dance pad.
