So, what are usually workouts for you guys for DDR and how have they worked for you?
I've been on-and-off doing 30-50 songs a day on heavy for around 2 hours (because of breaks) and so far I've lost 50lbs since 07' and retained it.

That's insane.
Is your priority to lose weight, or to become better at the game? I imagine those 2 goals are completely counter-productive, because a lot of the techniques commonly used for passing hatrder songs (bar-raping, bracketing) are designed to limit the ammount of energy expended during a song?
Does the way you play come into consideration in terms of weight loss? Do you try and promote muscle growth, or avoid muscle memory.

Well, I play DDR once - twice a week while I do jogging everymorning.
I play around 20 songs per play.
From those 20, I usualy play Max 300 to maintain my stamina.
The result... None.
I usually ended eating so much after playing

The original priority was to lose weight, which it still kind of is for another 10 or maybe 15lbs. Now, I just love to play every day as I've become addicted. I will have weeks though where I don't play at all or just am not in the mood.
The goals aren't counter-productive as in seeing that I can pass some boss songs and go through others without use of the bar. I like doing it that way because it takes more energy, therefore burns more calories. If I am lazy and want to conserve energy, I will sort of bracket or use a bar (rarely at arcades). When I play DDR, I want it to be exciting, not hugging some bar trying to conserve energy. -_- I also noticed more people will watch players at my arcade if they aren't using a bar to play songs. The only issue is balance, but my balance is pretty good anyways.
I just became better as I progressed. I tend to be more score-orientated now, but I try to keep both goals in the same basket.
In terms of weight loss, it does because I try to actually dance with songs. (I know it's crazy to try that on 9-footers, but it makes them more fun to play if I try) I don't really care for muscle growth considering my shins are freaking huge now and I do pushups on the side. :\
If my answers are unclear, just tell me. XD

My setup is a 40-song Course in StepMania, it randomly picks songs and there are NO breaks for about 65-70 minutes. I can barely sneak in a water drink. You and I have much in common (although I didn't lose quite as much and I have nothing left I want to lose, if I dropped another 15 I would be underweight and at 6'7" that's a bad idea).
The 40-songs have a warmup into peak, then cooldown. One time I managed a Full Combo on the entire course (about 14,000 steps). Somedays I just want to pick my own songs and I'll go as high as 13-footers once in awhile, and I don't EVER bracket although I do bar-rape like a whore, but the first 5 years I didn't have a bar so I played bar-less (the following 4 years I built a bar so I've been a whore since).

Same here. I feel like I'm overweight, but I play intense nonstop courses or just go through the songlist without any breaks, and I can't lose any weight. I'm assuming I'm higher than the norm though because it could be muscle weight.

Boomba, you must be ended eating up "Nasi Campur".

Anyways, the days I started DDR, I play DDR once a week with standard difficulty and I rarely use bar. I lost 6 kilograms (12lbs or so) in 6 months. And people starts to tell me "You are smaller now". But now? I play DDR once in 1 or 2 weeks playing heavy mode hunting for score and no weight lost. lol

I never lost weight at this, but for me, that's a good thing considering I'm a lightweight being 6 feet and 125lbs.
If anything, this helped me gain a little bit of muscle in my legs.

When I first got hooked on DDR, I was 234 lbs (and I'm 5'9...not good). I usually played for about 4 hours a day on
, with little 10-15-minute breaks here and there. In less than a year, I was down to 164 lbs. Now, I've settled into an every-other-day regimen of 15-30 songs, depending on how much energy I have to burn (The most I've ever done in one night since the big weight loss was 46, tried Endless mode in SN2 and let myself die, just because I wanted to get on to other things). Since losing all that weight, I've gained a bit back (nothing serious, though), and since my legs are a whole lot stronger now than they were then, I'd attribute more than half of the weight increase to muscle mass, since muscle weighs more than fat.
Oh, yeah, and during my intense early DDR workouts, I was having stomach problems, so my appetite was slashed to nearly nothing for a few months. That surely contributed...

I used to have stomach problems when I played. I think it was the fact that when you don't drink enough water, your stomach may begin to hurt. That used to happen to me when I played 10 footers.
I seriously can't lose any weight from DDR. I'm 5'5 and 128 pounds, which I think is all muscle because I also run up to 3 miles a few times a week and eat only 2 or 3 meals a day.

I lost some pounds when I started playing too. I had a bit of a gut when I was in middle school, but when I finished that gut was gone, in fact I became really skinny from eating less and playing DDR more. Near the end of high school I started eating way more food because I played DDR so often. It was a lot of food, like a whole large pizza, or miscellaneous items at McDonalds that would cost me all together around $10~$12.
Now a days I retain the same weight and still play DDR almost every day. I still have a really disgusting diet, but I think it usually gets all burned off or my high metabolism takes care of it because it never becomes added weight on my body.

I still lost pound and win some muscle (in my legs) too. I still don't play a lot DDR like before because of exam... It cost a lot of money because it's expensive where i live. But i started to gain some weights because of eating a lot of foods.

I had an experience like that once...I had already dropped lots of weight, but I tried

My issue was an imbalance of good/bad bacteria in my stomach. Took supplements for a while to fix it, haven't had any trouble since. Still, though, dehydrated DDRing can indeed be quite dangerous...x_X

Once I played DDR with a VERY FULL stomach.
And I regret my decision. It hurt so much, even though I played easy songs (well, easy but I freestyled) though at the end I played exotic ethnic, MAX 300 and Fascination ~eternal love mix~ back to back.
It hurt... ugh... need to take a seat... huff...

I've done that before as well. I drank a huge glass of water, then played right after, and ended up feeling sick after playing Tino's White Horse
