"Oh god what I have dooooone?!" |
Alrighty, still trying to get my local extreme replaced with a not local supernova. Tech guy is being nice as ever, boss guy is being a businessman (money oriented
)
But it's still a possibility that they'll be getting the Supernova machine in at SOME point.
So if or when they do, I'm keen to know, do all the songs come unlocked by default? If not, is there any way to unlock them for standard play, like with passwords or unlock codes? (I'm really keen for FAXX:hea
I could really find much info on Sn's system unfortunately.
Also, what deal is the operators menu like? Is it the same as Extreme's, or close to it? Or does it look quite different? Any settings that would be particularly interesting? Again, not much info around, so I'm kinda in the dark on that.
And of course if there's anything else other than that sync glitch you think I should know about, give me a post too... I haven't dealt with Supernova before so I'd like to get in the know before I go dicking with the machine.
Thanks.

SN1 has no unlock codes, but SN2 does. That's why the only locked songs on SN are the boss songs.

Well, i played SN a LOT. If you really want to play FaxX so bad, get an SN2 instead.
Unless your cab will be japanease you will only play FaxX in extra stage or nonstop.
So if you want a SuperNova cab, take SN2. There is also 50+ songs and only 9 from SN removed.
Or wait for X2 maybe
Also, you'll missing a lot of songs from Extreme (56 of them, 59 stepcharts. I made my own list). Even there is a LOT of new ones on SN1 so be prepared.

Oh gay. Those were the ones I was looking forward to playing. Guess I'll have to learn to play FAXX on 1.5x reverse then.
Which ones are locked anyway? Are there any that ARE open for standard play?

FAXX, FELM, Chaos, Healing-D-Vision are locked on local SN machines. In other words, the new boss songs on SuperNOVA.
You'd be better off getting a SuperNOVA 2, as those four songs are there unlocked for play.

Well unfortunately I'm in NZ so our choice is VERY limited. We've got an R21 cab that only attracts elitists, SN2 cab but that got shifted to god knows where over xmas, Extreme cab down the road that's completely buggered, a couple of pump cabs (one of which also recently disappeared) and there isn't an X machine to speak of in the entire country.
Anyway, cheers for the answers. Gonna go to uni now though, bus coming in like now.

FaxX, Felm, H-D-V, Chaos.
4 songs, 8 stepcharts.
The last one is OMES (Chaos) others are ES.
Also, you'll never play those 4 songs in
during standard play (even ES/OMES). You can only play them on Boss Rush IV (challenging mode).
Actually, you should check if some SN2 is available for sell ^^'

everyone is forgetting something hugely important about SN1. there was a patch disc released for it, 99.99% of places got it, but some didn't. the patch disc fixed some song sync (sup red zone) and added the all music category of which FELM is the boss song which added FELM to the machine.
take note that FELM is not in any courses, so it might be there but without the patch adding all music you cant access it on a US machine.
personally, i would push for them to get SN2.

All Music is always there, patched or unpatched.
The patch enables FELM and Flow (True Style)

Alright well thanks for that. I'm not sure if this will be a patched Supernova, it's entirely possible it's not.
As for getting a newer version, it's simply not an option. There's only one machine on TradeMe (Nz's gay version of Ebay) and it's a pump NX 1 for $1.8k. Really nice price IMO, but I don't have the cash. Nor do I know what condition it's in
No arcade would be willing to pay 30k+ for a DDR X2 either, since the market just isn't there.
TimeZone just got rid of their SN 2 over christmas, which WAS a SN upgrade cab but a couple of panels were dying and the guys that looked after ITG2 didn't do anything about DDR because they're ITG 1337 whores so it ended up being not played nor worth playing anyway.
Apparently now it's going to a location off site, not in a TimeZone centre but somewhere they supply games to. No idea where that is.
In any case, it's been gone for 9 months and hasn't been seen since, it ain't comin back. Not while ITG is there.
I doubt I'd have much luck with the other two arcades. It's taking a long time to get even Supernova 1 shifted in, and it might not even happen if the boss puts his foot down.
And the other one is just not worth bothering with at all. The operators are surly and don't speak a word of english beyond a few careless grunts, not giving a crap about the games at all, and the people who play there are almost just as bad. I spoke to a tech and he said problems don't get reported at all, he only fixes stuff that's obviously broken.
So yeah, if I get this in and sort it out it'll probably be the best and newest machine in Auckland. No idea about other arcades in auckland but I'm sure most of them are shite anyway.
The newest machine I've seen is a PIU NX2 in an FX cab, at another branch of the arcade I'm trying to get Supernova from.
Apologies if I'm a bit strange sounding, I just got back from the last day of uni before mid sem break and was gonna go play ITG2 but the guy who maintains it was there and playing and he's a nice guy but incredibly elitist about ITG and makes me not want to play so I didn't and instead went and played a round of doubles on Extreme up for road for $4 before coming home and reading this topic.
And I'm incredibly tired.

A SuperNOVA machine near me is fully unlocked, though it's not online. FELM is there also. And for ES you can pick any of the boss songs and passing them (maybe B or better) gives OMES. I think it's... upgraded.

Maybe the best approach is to find casual DDR players in your region of NZ to help petition the arcade for a newer machine. But I don't know the government policies with that type of thing in NZ and it might be a little excessive. The only thing you can really do is cross your fingers for an X or X2 in the future, or just wait and perservere for another SN2.

I've been trying to get the players pestering the arcade technicians in timeout when they see them, just telling them to ask about when supernova is coming in. Not sure how many will do that but a couple might. Failing that, just seeing people playing the machine when they're in might get the techs on my side.
The other arcades I can say without a doubt, will never get another DDR machine. Thanks to ITG2, TimeZone's players never played SN2 while it was there, because of both the lesser song choice and faulty pads. That said, if it had got even half the attention that the ITG tech spent on the other machine, I'm sure people would have played it far, FAR more than they did.
And yifan's might be the biggest arcade in NZ, but the operators are just... terrible. I want to punch them everytime I go there they're so ignorant. And as before, the DDR extreme LOOKS fine so doesn't get maintained, but is FUCKED so doesn't get played, so it's just there to look sort of shiny
Anyway, still waiting on word of what's happening with the supernova machine, but I'll be around for another couple years so I've got time to convince the owners to upgrade it after it's been brought in.
Still wondering though, is the operator's menu gonna look the same as Extreme's or is it gonna look different?
Just wondering because I want to look like I know what the hell I'm doing if I DO get the chance to configure it nicely

It seems ITG2 is doing the same in Orlando at Magical Midway. I can see your point there. Their SN machine just gets worse and worse, but no one seems to care because the ITG2 R21 is always pampered and in use.
