Alright, so there's plenty of people here who play with speed mods and noteskins, and the occasional person who plays with reverse scroll in standard play (not extra stage...), but is there anyone who actively chooses other mods to play with?
I'd be interested in seeing some people playing sudden, or hidden, or doing turned charts and other stuff.
Does anyone do that?
If not, why not?
I'd also like to challenge you to try playing some songs with different mods than usual.
Personally, I like boost and solo or dark. While they're not too imaginative, they do mix it up a bit. I also played two charts on shuffle the other day after accidentally pad coding it in, and rather enjoyed it. Gonna try a few more when I play at the arcade next. Should be interesting.

I always use NOTE. Sometimes 1,5x on very slow songs. Otherwise 1x.
Also, I use 0.5x NOTE on Pluto Relinquish Double Basic. Always.

Usually none. Occasionally I have note on. And like Silverhawke, I use speed mods like 2x on slow songs, but only the chaotic ones like Bag (or sometimes others, like I'll Make Love To You, where it's not TOO chaotic, but can still be annoying on 1x)

Astroman: My friend always uses speed mods. Even for songs like Freeway Shuffle (I use note 1x) he used 3x maybe or 2x... around that multiplier. He can't read songs that are too slow xD and the reverse goes for me. Fascination MaxX 1.5x = dead.

Well, speedmod wise, it all depends on the BPM I can only handle songs up to about 185 BPM or so on 2x. Anything below 130 BPM I can go to 3x. Of course the 400 BPM songs I can only handle at 1x.
Noteskin wise, I use Rainbow (or Solo). It really helps distinguish the arrows.
I don't use challenge mods when I'm playing. Mainly because I haven't reached that level of skill yet.
@Silverhawke: Yeah, I cannot stand slow songs. I need the scrolling speed to be fast to help my timing. On top of that, the arrow spacing is more distant helping me even further with my timing.

1x for anything over 200 BPM
1.5x for 150-200 BPM
2x for 100-150 BPM
3x for anything under 100 BPM
Dark: Depends on how I feel. I don't need no markers, buuut...yeah. Depends.
As for mines and ITG, I turn 'em off.

Mostly, 3X to 4X in speed, NOTE or RAINBOW usually in Arrow Skins and that's it.

1x Vivid for me. I also like playing with weird note-skins (but not DOT).
I also don't mind Hidden, and though it hurts my score, I like Dark as well.

For DDR: 2x (under 150 BPM), 1.5x (150-250 BPM), or 1x (over 250 BPM), Boost, Solo/Rainbow, Dark. Mirror often. Alternate noteskins where available. Hidden's not really a problem on most songs.
For ITG: 2.5x (under 150 BPM), 2x (150-200 BPM), 1.5x (200-300 BPM), or 1x (over 300 BPM), Hallway, Accel, Metal. Sometimes Mirror, Dizzy, and/or Drift.
For PIU: 3x (under 120 BPM), 2.5x (120-180 BPM), or 2x (over 180 BPM).
I can play almost all songs without mods, too (I think the only one that still gives me serious problems without mods vs with mods is bag D-
).

Note/Solo, and pretty much the same speed mods as Tel for DDR. Also 2x on everything in PIU.

For DDR, I use x1.5 or x2. I sometimes use Boost, Note, Rainbow, and even Flat.
For ITG, I play x3 or x2.5.
I haven't played PIU that much.
For Stepmania, I always have my speed x2. On faster songs, I'll use x1.5.

Nobody uses Sudden?
Forget about needing Speed Mods, Towels and Lane Covers. Sudden is the go-to mod for an easy ride on anything older than 4th Mix Plus!

Whoa everyone read "slow" i almost feel weird to say that i play around +500bpm on SN cabs.
I play Max300 on x2, PSMO too.
But try to not use x3 if it's higher than 185bpm (but i still played Exotic Ethnic on x3 because i did better than x2).
Maybe this changes a bit because i mainly only play on Extreme cab the past 8 months.
And 170bpm x3 on this cab is my limit. In fact, it's a bit too fast...
I can't time x1, mainly on weird songs (Euromix1 was fun. I will play on it again soon and get a lot of greats
).
I won't talk about 2.5 or 3.5 mods because i didn't play X enough.
If i play nobar, i play on a lower speed mods. x2 mainly. Magic Door x2 nobar is one of my favorite to play this way (my best is like 4 greats if i'm corect).
Well that was for single (that i play most of the time with bar. Nobar is 90% of the time during ES).
On double (nobar), 170bpm is x2 but above it will be x1.5.
