"Give me a steady beat."
I didn't see this anywhere and just thought I'd let everyone know.

So... DDR:UK's 8th Birthday is coming up in September, and what an interesting way to celebrate it.

I hereby give notice that DDR:UK's website will be shut down on the 12th of September 2010. All access will be removed, and the site shelved somewhere, for us to look back at in years to come.

It wasn't easy to come to this decision, however it wasn't has hard either. DDR:UK in its 8 years of life, has evolved from the Yellow almost unreadable site, through the high point of its community, and into the new direction DDR:UK has taken. The new direction, doesn't seem to work with the current website, the code is old and falling apart, and impossible to maintain. It has fallen behind on the times, now that we have AJAX, HTML5 on the way... I just couldn't keep up with all the changes.

As I am not going into too much detail in this post, the last thing I would like to say is "Thank you", thank you to everyone that has helped contribute towards this site over the many years, uploaded pictures, wrote articles, moderated, coded, oh the list could go on. Thank you for everyone that has had to put up with me over the years on this. DDR:UK has been something close to me, it has been my life for the last 8 years, and it is heart breaking to see it go like this. I was very attached to this site, as I am sure there were others out there like this.

Colin Barker aka Myst
Webmaster and Final Founder of the DDR:UK Website.

Ah yeah, I remember when that place was the shit, with all the simfiles and a pretty active forum community, ah well, times change.

I can't say I'm too shocked about this, It's been kind of on the chopping block for some time. I remember getting all of the DDR simfiles from there. Hell I still remember reading the Happy Sky song list from there too. Good times but I guess all good things come to an end. Roll Eyes

It makes me wonder what ZIv is going to be 5 years from now

I know Sad but if people donate to the site, we can still keep this going on for more than 5 years...

...also, do you guys think that after they shut down the site we will see A LOT of new members come on by from DDRUK?

Just a thought >_>.

DDRUK was a VERY VERY VERY good site for simfiles and the sort, WAAY before i got into ZIv, i got all my stepmania simfiles from those guys, and they were amazingly done well. You will be missed DDRUK.

Most of the DDR:UK community have drifted to here anyway.

I think there will be a jump of new members. They have to migrate somewhere.

"Oh god what I have dooooone?!"
Here's hoping that they DO show, because they had some great members a while ago who were really nice and helpful.
Bummer was, they never posted. Often there'd be topics with about 800 views but no replies.. kinda got annoying.
Still loved the site though.Sad

They'll still be showing up on events though, and their FB page stays.

I remember plugging DDRUK with $50 dollars just because of their work for building the at the time impressive simfile database.

I guess that is the reason I backed up all of those files on CD-ROM.

Oh geez, I missed this! I used to go there all the time before ZIV came around with Al's SN1 videos at the Troc and the start of those horrible SN1 simfiles... Think I still have the original Faxx simfile with the announcer's "What?!" in the preview music, and the Sunrise sim where the preview goes 'Reach up for the sunrise' "Yes!" Laughing Out Loud
Play my game Arcana Seal of Rimsala (SNES)!

I remember being astounded at all of the stepcharts they had on that website before I discovered this site. I was never a member, but I visited it a lot. I jumped on the DDR train the year of MAX2 US, and for a long time, that site was my primary way of researching stepcharts to prepare for arcade visits, back when I had one in my neighborhood.

Good work, you guys!
