http://www.futuremax.eu/en/futuremax-fitpro-arcade-metal-dance-pad-with-improved-handle-bar.html

Just recently bought one of these, and I have to say I'm very pleased with it. The base is pretty sturdy, and the handlebar is pretty stable too, and seems much stronger than ones I have seen on other metal pads. The sensitivity is good and the height of the metal sections seems right. The triangular corner brackets are lowered however, so it's not a totally authentic feel, but it does do the job nicely for some casual home play.

Now, all was well and dandy until one day I had an engineer in the house, upgrading my cable internet. The silly man ended up trodding on the extruding serial cable at the front of the pad, causing one of the screws to snap and the connector to come loose. However, this didn't stop the pad from functioning. Tonight however, the pad started faulting, and 4 of the buttons on the left side of the pad (up, B/X, Left and Down) have all stopped working, except for maybe a little glimmer of signal when the pad is shaken about a bit. The right arrow and A/O button works perfectly though.

Knowing this, I have attempted to open up the pad to have a look inside at the wiring, and to hopefully solder the faulty wires. However, there is no access to the internals of the frame. The metal, whilst screwed onto the frame, is actually bent around the wooden frame, meaning that I would have to rip the foam frmo underneath, and bend the metal back to slide it off the wooden frame. Now, of course, I don't want to do this as it will weaken the metal and damage the underside foam.

So I was wondering if anyone here has tried this mat (or similar futuremax mats) and have any experience in dealing with this kind of problem, and if they could give any advice on resolving the issue.

Thanks.

Also feel free to post your experiences/opinions with this mat also. Smile
