"ARR JOO LEADY??" |
Upload a picture or video of your results playing any official chart of the following songs (difficulty or mode does not matter). The highest score of that song will win it, and the winner of the most songs will win each challenge (Global, American, Japanese, and European). The challenge will remain open until a week from next Tuesday, where the winners will be declared - and if you win the Global challenge, you'll be allowed to select a game version to be featured in the following challenge.
For sake of simplicity, Marvelous and OK steps are counted as "Perfects," and only Perfects and Greats are ultimately counted. You should also post grand totals for each challenge, as that becomes a tiebreaker, should two people "win" the same number of songs.
Scores are accepted from any valid DDR product (arcade or console, regardless of version thereof), but not StepMania or other simulator programs. (SM and the like have editable timing windows - and just because you won't abuse that doesn't mean nobody else won't!) The main purpose of these is to give people a reason to revisit and enjoy the different versions of DDR, and to allow a method of competition that is fair, regardless of what region you hail from.
This week's challenge:
DDR EXTRA MIX (J) xx DDR ULTRAMIX (U) xx DS Unleashed (E)
Global Challenge:
DIVE / BeForU
HYSTERIA / NAOKI 190
SEXY PLANET / CRYSTAL ALIENS
SUPER STAR / DJ RICH feat. Tail Bros.
America Challenge:
Castles In The Sky / Ian Van Dahl feat. Marsha
Do That Thang (M*A*S*H Radio Edit) / MASAI
GRADIUSIC CYBER / TAKA
MGS2 Mission R / L.E.D.
Ready Steady Go / Paul Oakenfold
Shiny Disco Balls / Who Da Funk
Japan Challenge
Club Tropicana / Cydney D.
FREAKY / DE LITE and MC Young
GET OFF / WIZZZARD
I'M ALIVE / UNCLE 36 feat. MC TAIWAN
KUNG FU FIGHTING (Miami Booty Mix) / BUS*STOP
LOVE MACHINE / PONY TOWN BOYZ
MY BABY MAMA / Arquette
SAMBA de JANEIRO / BASS FIST! feat. Boogie Girl
THAT'S THE WAY '98 / DJ BASS feat. MC Dixie
TOGETHER & FOREVER / NINEBALL feat. Atomic Gun and Julia
Europe Challenge:
CALL ME / Blondie
EBENEEZER GOODE / The Shamen
HEART OF GLASS / Blondie
SATURN 5 / Inspiral Carpets
SIZE OF A COW / The Wonderstuff
UP THE BRACKET / The Libertines
NU FLOW / Big Brovas
Challenge will remain open through Tuesday, the 27th.

Curse you Konami! You should have allowed the Ultramix series to be backwards compatible to the 360!
So I cannot do the american challenge portion of the console crossover challenge the only other way is through SM, but since SM is forbidden in the challenge I will only do the american challenge for fun and not have my recorded scores be counted into the challenge.

I wish we could extend the deadline because I haven't found the time to pick up a copy of DDR Max 2. I do have videos of the other 3 songs. Will there be any possibility of extending the deadline (since only one person has submitted) or a Console Crossover Challenge #5? Please let me know ASAP.

Post what you've got, then. You don't have to whip all of the songs to win, and it's all in good fun. There will be a #5, coming up this Friday.

Does this challenge extend to those of us that have access to console DDR but don't have any pads? Maybe a separate tier for CCR that's harder to pass?
It isn't Konami's fault. Microsoft was responsible for writing the emulation software to allow XBox games to work on the 360. They chose games based on demand so, sadly, DDR probably wasn't even considered. And you would have had to say goodbye to all the ULTRAMIX DLC either way.

I had an original X-box, but gave it to a friend and now I can't get it back so I'm trying to look for another original, I noticed there is one for sale in the marketplace forum, but dunno if i want to pay $50 for it.
Also has it ever occurred that Microsoft might have extended an invite to Konami to have the Ultramix Series compatible to the 360 but Konami declined cause they were in the process of making the Universe Series on the 360. A little of conflict of interest, maybe.

Don't think so. Other game series probably have had compatability when the developer's been working on a sequel.Post #8 · Posted at 2010-04-28 01:00:42am 15.2 years ago

360s are just like the (newer) PS3s, there's no actual hardware that performs the function of an original XBox, just like there's no Emotion Engine to run PS2 games. It's all software. Konami wrote all four ULTRAMIX and all three Unleashed games to work for the XBox. That's all that was out at the time. It was still Microsoft's ball to make any XBox game at all run on the 360. It had nothing to do with the way Konami programmed the ULTRAMIX series, they made them work for the system they were released on. They had no control over whether or not it ran on the 360. They could have re-released a recoded series of games using 360 instructions... but why? That's what the UNIVERSE series was for. It would have been a waste of money at the time.
Why would Microsoft ask Konami if it was alright to make ULTRAMIX run on the 360? They weren't asking permission that I'm aware of, they just chose games that were best sellers and Halo and wrote emulation instructions for them for the 360 so it would know what to do with the bloody disc.
What makes me sad is that the original XBox Live! is gone, and with it every DLC for the ULTRAMIX series. I wonder if someone had the foresight to backup and torrent those data packs for future use? Same goes for the UNIVERSE DLC, some of it is already gone and I doubt the rest will stay in place forever.

Judging by Margo's video/setup, it looks to be a pretty safe bet. ;) So stay tuned!
