My local Gameworks closed. And it wasn't just my local one, either.
So now I have no arcade to go to. I know of no other arcades with DDR in my area.
I blame Zynga for this.

That was just my way of blaming the closures on a really shitty economy.

Arcade closures are an unfortunate occurrence indeed. My area used to have like 6 good DDR machines, but now it's down to... 1?

Title change.
Is Sega running on a deficit or something? I would really like to know.

Quote: Sega, in an article on vendingtimes.com
Sega chief executive Corey Haynes called the move a "tough financial decision" forced by the difficult economy. Sega officials added that the move was part of a "restructuring" strategy intended to improve profits.
So yeah, it's because the economy sucks.

"ARR JOO LEADY??" |

Wow, not much is more painful than the news that 90% of what's remaining at malls is (EDIT: "hipster") clothing. Our malls have suffered here quite a bit from that dilemma, as well. But the unfortunate truth is self-evident... between the internet, 3G cell networks, cable companies and DLC/direct streaming consoles... social contact is going from public to private/electronic in a very prominent way. Mostly because people can only afford one or the other, and nobody likes pay-per-play over owning something (gaming-wise).
Not to say the arcade concept is dead, but it needs to change, and evolve - from being more about gaming cashflow to being more of a social setting, with cashflow relating to that, more. I'm thinking of hooking up a musical gaming company around here that just acts more like an interactive, gaming nightclub. I just don't know how to balance the expense of that with fair - and affordable - one-time entry fees or memberships (weekly/monthly/seasonal). And honestly, I'm also afraid of "the inevitable slide" into the modern equivalent of rollerskating rinks.
Honestly. When was the last time any of you visited one of THOSE? o.O Fifth grade, maybe?

Thanks.
I just wish it wasn't about this.
There is actually one arcade near me, but it's X-Scape.

Even though the Gameworks in Tampa closed, we still have A LOT of arcades around...
...it's just that the Gameworks was the ONLY up-to-date arcade location in the area (and home to the ONLY SN2 machine in all of Tampa).
So i am stuck with Extreme and one SuperNOVA machine in my area

Just a question: Do you think Gameworks is selling their machines via Betson?

THIS is what I am trying to find out, i heard that even though the Gameworks closed, the machines are STILL up and running, it's just that no one can enter into the place......which is tempting me to figure out just how are they going to get rid of the machines in the place? Auction? Or are they going to keep it to sell to another arcade company (Dave and Busters)? Idk

They may move some to Cincinatti/up to Chicago. At least, the ones that they don't already have.

Page 9 has Konami stuff. I wonder who owns that DDR X...
Update: I emailed Gameworks this message:

UPDATE: One Gameworks has been reopened, but not under Sega ownership, apparently (Gameworks does NOT have it listed on their website): http://cbs4.com/local/gameworks.sunset.place.2.1610956.html
I've also heard that the Indianapolis Gameworks is locked up, but the games are still on...

I have a question about a few of the games that were at the Indianapolis location.
Are the Dance Dance Revolution machines going to be sold? If so, where can I buy them?
Thanks in advance for reading this, and please respond back.
I hope they truly reply, but I'm not expecting anything more than an automated answer. Are the Dance Dance Revolution machines going to be sold? If so, where can I buy them?
