"ARR JOO LEADY??" |
So... having had a less-than-spectacular time with X2, and taking a nice break from the fuss, lately I've found myself revisiting older titles. Even some PS1 versions like Konamix, Extra Mix, and 3rd Mix. Really, I'd forgot just how great (and complete-feeling for it's time) 3rd Mix really is... apart from the 10-footer pheening of latter titles, it still seems to hold it's own against more modern titles. Konamix and Extra Mix stick out to me too, because of how fun 6-panel mode is, and what great and solid-set tracklists they have going on. Even 5th Mix was a blast, reminding me of when I was first trying Healing Vision (Angelic Mix) Dbl-
and thinking to myself "this is never gonna happen!"
I also dabbled back through DDRMAX2 and EXTREME 2 recently, enjoying every minute. Anybody else here been dipping back into past mixes lately? To be honest, I'm almost tempted to get an old X-Box, just to play the Ultramix titles I didn't get to see much of.

Yessssssssssssss, I've had a stab at EM1 a few times recently and am reminded how good the songlist is. The funny thing is, pretty much ALL the songs on that mix are good even though the interface looks really dated.

The best game up to date in my opinion. SN1 at 2nd place. Megamix at 3rd place for being that huge mix with over OH WAI.Really, I do love Megamix, for having such a varied music list; SHAKE YOUR BODY is such a classic.
Somehow Fever nor Fusion (except that "hands" were added+those minigames that was actually quite cool/fun) got my attention they somehow felt rushed.
The PS1 games aren't that appealing to me, I started playing on EM1 and a girlfriend of mine bought me Party Edition, which is one hell of a mix lol. I'm more fond with the PS2 graphics though, the MAX-era.
Though, I can't really explain the feeling when you go to the store and see a new DS/DDR on the shelf, it's magical lol. Every game have had it's charm somehow, but lately [insert random complaints about delays in EU etc. etc.].

Fever felt rushed because it was a recoloured MegaMix with different songs, and licences that weren't all 4s on Heavy.
Fusion was a great PS2 one for me, only because the licence list was actually larger than Party Edition's...just. I reckon that if they put MegaMix and Fever's lists together and just released that as one game with a 59-song licence list or whatever (remember we somehow got 2 PS2 mixes in one year, MM in March and Fever in November), that would have been AMAZING.

I never thought of it like that, sounds bad ass lol. Would've been awesome-o...
The licence list on Fusion was indeed heavy, I remember when I first took a dip into Game Mode just to see the songlist, I was blown of the table, insane. Compared to the old mixes though, the rest of the songs felt thrown in randomly, sure there was a lot of classics in there, but c'mon after having Maxx Unlimited, playing Paranoia Survivor felt weak.
DS Max still stands out as a milestone for us in the EU and I'm holding out for a HP3 release being even better than that. I've dropped the PS2 games since SN1, going wii style instead. They're a lot more fun to play with friends, now if they just add DP, Quad and edit mode to wii, I'm completely sold...

You're not missing much dropping it after SN1. What were the sales of SN2 EU? Like...six?

Yes.
I have been daily switching between the mixes or Max, Extreme, SN1, X, Max2, Extreme 2, X2.
Then cycle.
I have this old xbox I found lying around and felt like buying some DDR games for it, but felt the need to look around at the titles first.

Aegis, you should get atleast UNI2, since we can't get UNI3 over here I can't really tell you anything about it, but the 2nd game is awesome. I love the songs, its an all around good mix with stuff like The Knife and Peter & Bjorn, really cool. The FPS lag isnt THAT bad as people say, in my opinion.

Yeah, many negative opinions kinda threw me off to not want it as much as another mix, but I'll keep that in mind.

You're right, I was judging the game as bad before I even had inserted the disc. Changed my mind after a while, sure the Quest Mode is worthless as an unlocking system, but it keeps a good pace, and it isn't pushing you to play song after song nonstop without pauses, I kind of like that personally. The Challenge Mode is quite cool aswell, gets stupidly hard at the end though, a nice challenge CCRing ;>Post #12 · Posted at 2010-02-04 06:57:27pm 15.4 years ago

The Knife and Peter & Bjorn
Both of these songs only appear in the UK version. The US licence list is pretty good though. THE SAFETY DANCE. And that's all I need to say on that matter.
