How do you get Stepmania to have lives in the Extra stages instead of a bar. I remember seeing it somewhere on Bemanistyle, but I can't remember where it was.

first create a txt document and put it in the group folder (ex. DDR MAX2)
I will give you my crs file as a reference.
#SONG
DR 7th MIX (MAX 2)/MAXX UNLIMITED (X-Special):CHALLENGE:1x,battery,4 LIVES; (or 1 LIVES)
I think that should help.
don't forget to name your file as extra1.crs or extra2.crs
extra1 for EXTRA STAGE and extra2 for ENCORE EXTRA STAGE.
EDIT: Unfortunately, I don't know if it works for Stepmania 3.9 because I use 3.9+ Redux
I will give you my crs file as a reference.

This is what I have for my Extra and Encore stage for my EXTREME folder:
ES:
#COURSE:Extra2;
#SONG:DDR 08th EXTREME/The legend of MAX:MANIAC:1.5x,reverse,norecover;
OMES:
#COURSE:Extra2;
#SONG:DDR 08th EXTREME/Dance Dance Revolution:CHALLENGE:3.0x,reverse,suddendeath;
I couldn't find a way to put the battery meter for the OMES so I just left it with sudden death.

Thanks a bunch. I'm pretty sure this code is incompatible in 3.9 (good thing I use redux
