This is inspired by the course files that I made for some DJMAX simfiles that I created (particularly "Seeker" and "Plastic Method").

Assuming that the DJMAX songs have made it to the world of DDR, which DJMAX songs do you consider to be 'boss songs' (along the veins of "Pluto", "Pluto Relinquish", the MAXes, "Fascination -eternal love mix-" and all the other DDR boss songs)?

IMO, after hearing "NB Rangers: Returns", I would consider that to be a boss song. Or worse yet... "SIN -the last scene-"

I've also heard that "Oblivion", "Seeker" and "Nightmare" also make excellent boss songs.

I think HAMSIN could be a boss song.

Enemy Storm was the game's actual boss song.

In the 2nd revision (the one that was released Japan), the boss song was Space Of Soul.

These days, I don't understand what people consider 'boss songs' to be, or why you say "if these songs were in DDR". A boss song is simply the song which the programmer intend to be the hardest song in the game (like Ready Steady Go in Ouendan, or Freebird in Guitar Hero 2). It's the last song in the game that you play/unlock, and when you can pass it, you 'beat the game'.

"jubeat knit one, purl two"
I would consider a boss song to be any song that's exceptionally hard compared to the rest. In the early days, the PARANOiAs and Trip Machines were the cream of the crop, but then we had Maxes, Pluto, etc. that were harder yet. On Universe 3, there's no official boss song, but songs such as 888, Concertino in Blue and deltaMAX could be considered such because of their difficulty. On the other hand, Unborn's 8-foot chart doesn't make it much of a boss song, although Universe 2 didn't have anything that could easily be called one (not even Take Me Out or Entry of the Gladiators Oni).

Although we've had "boss songs" like Trip Machine Survivor, Maximizer and Saber Wing that weren't particularly difficult, yet Konami called them so anyway.

Ah... You do have a point there. I ask only because I feel that there are some tunes in the game that are hard as nails to MAX combo or actually pass (like Hamsin, in which I can't MAX combo to death! or SIN ~T.L.S.~, one of the toughest tracks on Fever in the 4B mode).

And this way, I will make the SM Oni courses that fit the bill between the DJMAX tracks and the DDR tracks (those in the N.A. ver. of X, mind you).

Are La Senorita and Uh La La La usually considered boss songs, then?

Sorry to derail the conversation. I'd just always assumed that every game had one 'Boss Song', which was whatever (non hidden, non extra-stage) song Konami intended to be the hardest. It's confusing now, because since I last played DDR, people are referring to loads of things as being 'boss songs', even though most of them arent' the hardest songs in their particular game. I always assumed there were lots of 'hard songs', and one 'boss song' per game ^^;
