Ever been to an abandoned warehouse? It's always fun to go in a cold winter rainy night.

"On ZiV I'm like Princess Diana" |
I don't believe in supernatural things such as ghosts and the like, but there were these really strange things in this town I used to live in. It was called Dugway Proving Grounds, a military base in the middle of the Utah desert.
It was SUPER small. To give you an idea, the entire High School (which included 7th and 8th grade as well as 9-12) was about 300 students. But I digress. In nearly every building on base there were these really strange...holes, passageways etc. Some of them were in weird locations. In the elementary school, there was a hatch in the 6th grade classroom that the teacher always had a desk over, for example. There was also one located in the High School boiler room.
The creepiest holes were located in the army barracks. If you went down to the basement, there was a ladder that would go up a ways and lead you to a crawlspace that went pretty far. My friend went down it one night and discovered that it most likely went farther than the actual barracks. The rumors going around were that all the hatches lead to the nearby "Ditto", which was in the Dugway Proving Ground limits, but was mostly restricted to normal citizens. They did a lot of army research there, particularly in the chemical department (It had the largest amount of Anthrax in a single location in the US during the Anthrax scare IIRC). There were also a lot of conspiracy theories roaming around the place, particularly in the UFO department. Many people were convinced that the high-profile image of Area 51 was causing the US government to move all its "alien experiments" out to Dugway, where it could receive less scrutiny.
These were not your run-of-the-mill "I saw a light in the sky" conspiracies. Many people actually believed that reptilian alien humanoids were living in underground bases underneath Dugway, a fact that was only fueled by some citizens talking to "reporters" about the strange holes and hatches in the buildings. Even some of the Dugway residents believed in such stories. A good friend of mine had a mother who claimed to have a closer encounter while giving a haircut, a story she was often too frightened too talk about, but was nevertheless documented on a "Project Redbook" website, a website claiming to document claims of underground alien bases around the world. To quote from it:
I would like to point out that there were no auto shops in the town of Dugway at the time I lived there. Perhaps this was documented later *shrug*.
To give a full version of the story, heard from the daughter of the hair stylist, apparently she was cutting a man's hair whom she regarded as a stranger (this is quite notable in such a small town) and during the haircut, his skin appeared to "melt" off, almost as if acid had been poured on it. She saw a grotesque reptilian humanoid creature, according to her, appear as the skin melted, but the skin quickly reappeared and she quickly finished his haircut with great fear. I knew the mother, and I certainly wouldn't say she is crazy or mentally unstable.
Still, I think she may have just been a little 'excited'. Speaking for myself and many of my friends, we never saw any lights in the sky, any strange men walking about, or anything suspicious in our quaint little town. I think just let their imaginations go wild when they hear strange stories.
