"DJ Max Fever!" |
Alright alright I'm in a pickle right now, My brithday is coming up, My PS2 is breaking down, and my parents have agreed to get me one new game system either a PS3 or XBOX360. I'm only allowed to get one game system, both Systems have good games and bad, but Its so hard, because I want to get a PS3 because of some other games, and I want to get a XBOX360 game system because of the awesome DDR games. This is definatly a challenge. I need your Decision which one I should get.
My brother has a XBOX360 but hes in college, and never brings the system home with him, so its like if I buy XBOX360 games I won't get to play them, which really sucks.
please help.

It depends on what type(s) of games you like. But then again, most games are available on both consoles. I myself bought an XBOX360 two months ago and enjoy every bit of it. My only gripe is the controller's D-pad. It's so hard to hit the corners. Hopefully, Microfart decides to bring the "improved" D-pad to these shores. lucky Europeans

I've got a PS3 and even though I've only got 3 games for it I still love it
Although I will say this...which I found out the hard way...if you're going to be wanting to play DDR on the new console you get I'd highly recommend going with the Xbox360 because since the PS3 isn't backwards compatible anymore (due to those models being discontinued) none of the new DDR games work for it. SN1, SN2, or X do not work for the PS3...the timing is way off on the songs making it impossible to play. The older games (Max, Max2, Extreme, Extreme2) seem to work for it...but even then you have to have a pad with a USB port on it because the PS3 doesn't have PS2 controller ports (gah!).
And from the looks of it DDR seems to be leaning towards the 360 for next-gen DDR so I'd definitely recommend it from that aspect

its definitely 360 for DDR, but honestly, i've found them more and more unplayable for syncing and the framerate every year. normally i say support konami and buy the game, but in the case of xbox games just go with stepmania and a USB pad.
as for which system to get, its a toss up. i'm a 360 owner myself, but nearly all the games i play are multi-platform so the only reason i dont have a PS3 is because i got my 360 before they came out, and since all my games are on both i dont need the PS3. i will say this though, because the game is popular beyond belief, MGS4 is a PS3 exclusive. i wont buy the system for just that game, but i've played it and its good. IMO the only good exclusive game is on PS3, but its up to you.
i can give you some facts as a 360 owner though, the controller's d-pad is pretty bad for most games. hardware failure is very common. when i replaced my 360, it was only because i had so much invested in DLC and games, otherwise i would have bought a PS3. my new one works like a champ, but even now, not all new 360s perform as advertised. contrary to what anyone tries to tell you, xbox live is free. you can make a silver or gold account, gold is $7.99 a month, and all you get is SOME content before silver users(like the dropkick murphys pack for GH3 was available for gold users 3 weeks before silver users could get it). silver can still get DLC, XBLA games, xbox classics, and play online(i know it can, despite what anyone says, because i play online with my silver account). on the other hand, the PSN is 100% free to join.
hope i helped, i tried to play both sides as best i could.

...highly unlikely, although i do have to admit, if you REALLY want to play some DDR for a next-gen system, go for the Xbox 360...
And now more for the PS3

Playstation 3 is pretty much...a "bigger bump" than the 360, on a count of it is the only next-gen system which includes Blu-Ray Disc (which is the new hotness as of right now for HDTV users). If you want to get the PS3 for the "graphics" i suggest you wait until you have an LCD TV or an HDTV because when we first got our PS3, we only had it for a standard definition television...but a few months later we got a 52' LCD TV and the difference is AMAZING! (Note: Some PS3's DO NOT include the HDMI cable needed to be able to input 1080i resolution...and i heard it was around 50 or 60 bucks for JUST THAT CABLE...but once you buy it, the difference is clear).
Playstation 3 is almost the same as an Xbox 360, it plays games, movies, photos, online play, trophies/achievements, etc. Basically the 360 and PS3 have not too much of a difference (well except for it's size and stuff). And like both systems, each have their own sizes in HDD (Hard Drive Disk), let me advise you, if your the type of person that REALLY likes to download alot of stuff through the PS Store like games or movies or add-ons or the such, get a bigger PS3 (That or just create one account for your PS3 system). We own a 40GB PS3 and guess what? After 6 games and some add-ons and even one game it's all the way down to 18GB...
As for the games, like what n00b said, most games for the PS3 can also be found on the 360 platform, but there ARE some PS3 exclusives, and boy are they the best. Like MGS4, i have never played such a crafted game in history, beautifully made, engine was superb, storyline was awesome, and some little giggles along the way. And let's not forget another PS3 exclusive, LittleBigPlanet. This game seems to be like a "wtf? What is this game suppose to be?" kind of game, but let me tell you, play through the first level and you WILL be hooked...somehow >_>. Not only that, but you have the option to play other users levels that they created, and you can even create your own...
It somehow seems that the exclusive games are probably what is bringing the crowd over to the PS3, but the 360 also has some pretty damn good games as well...
Once again, i advise you that if you want to experience the full PS3 experience, get an HDTV/LCDTV, and get an HDMI cable for it...you'll be glad you did =)

I don't believe any game besides MGS4 and Little Big Planet makes the PS3 worth anything, but it certainly isn't just an expensive paperweight anymore.

if you dont already have a 360(and thus cant already play said games) there is super street fighter 2 HD remix, guitar hero, rock band, megaman 9, super puzzle fighter 2 turbo HD remix, virtua fighter 5, soul calibur IV, and in a month street fighter IV. there is plenty to make a PS3 worth owning, but like i said, any game i would play on PS3 i can play on my 360, its the only reason i dont have one.

Wipeout HD and Disgaea 3 say hi.

Then again, I play most of my stuff on the PS3, and the 360 is used only for Tales of Vesperia, PGR4, and some XBLA games, so YMMV.

And Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. They're also coming out with another game for the series. The game is by Naughty Dog, same guys who did the first 4 Crash Bandicoot games and the Jak and Daxter series.
I have neither system. Looking around for which system to buy myself, I'm more opted to buy a PS3 for the exclusives. Although they discontinued the reverse compatibility series, you can still buy some of the PS1 games on the Playstation Network, kinda like the Virtual Console on the Wii. Jersey Devil anyone?

Well thats just the thing the next DDR game is more likely going to be on the PS3, and I don't want to be behind everyone. As for the PS3 I like Hotshots Golf, Ratchet and Clank, etc.. and For the Xbox360 I like Soul Calibur, DDR, Guitar Hero. Its so hard to choose, I know I'm not being more clearer, and I appriciate it that your all helping me decide.
I don't know if this well help me out, but I love games where you can unlock new items, characters/etc.. I'm a guy who likes games where you unlock a item/character I feel good, and it makes me feel like I'm part of the game.
I love fighting games.

Well thanks for all of the offers, but if I wanna stay with the DDR series that I've been going along with, I'm going to get a PS3 no question asked. Thanks again all.

PS3 is completely inferior to XBOX 360. I was a sony loyal but I got so fed up of waiting and when PS3 finally came out I was disappointed. Anyway, they're basically the same when it comes to online function, but the XBOX performs better than the PS3. PS3's only real value is its function as a Blu-ray player. All the good gaming companies signed up for Microsoft so you don't have to worry about an XBOX game shortage.
Anyway, I think the biggest thing PS3 has going for itself are its sony legends such as Gran Tourismo 5.
