YouTube Blackout

Ok so apprently YouTube is algorithmically demoting videos, which is decreasing views on a video and taking away honors to take it off the 'Most Viewed' list.
Any thoughts?

I completely agree with that guy. I mean, unless it's some retarded asian kingdom that won't let you even say anything that isn't from that kingdom, you had to be nude 24/7, and you'd be brutally beaten every 30 minutes, then really, what the hell.

It's not like they're removing the videos, they're just not going to promote them or give them awards.

It's crap like this is why Youtube will be nothing more then a fad. The'll do something this stupid and then no one will want to go on the site anymore. I've only herd this being a rumor, so I hope this is not true.

Crap, I just watched the video today, and it's the 19th. I guess there's no point in sending it to all my subscribers?

If any of you are actually surprised at this happening, you need a reality check. Every corporation that broadcasts content widely has to censor it to not have profanity. Google doing this was really inevitable, just a matter of when they hit the critical popularity. The only real problem is going to be the laughable false positive problems.

My videos will be mostly unaffected ("son of a bitch, another doubles 10") because I don't typically swear in them, and I don't usually do songs that have swearing. And of course, mine are never anywhere near the "most viewed" "most discussed" "most lame" lists anyway. They don't even show up in the "Related Videos" list unless I'm watching one of mine already.

Minor, but important, addition. YouTube is an American venture, so it's applicable.

Personally, I don't care. I don't look at what YouTube thinks is popular; I just search on my own.

Ugh, the guy in that video sounds like he thinks he's such a victim. Plus, he doesn't know how freedom of speech works.

Anyways, it's no big deal to me. In my opinion, excessive profanity doesn't get one's point across very well, it's just annoying.

I only go on youtube to check out DDR games/Final Fantasy games otherwise thats it. going back to bed. peace out!
