Today I went to my arcade to play the recently unlocked SN2 songs, and apparently it just underwent a major renovation. I noticed that it just got a bunch of new stuff, which included Pop'n Music Adventure (which I played for the first time and it's pretty fun) and IIDX Gold (awesome machine, has the huge screen, LED Lights, and everything).
But as you can tell from the title of this thread, I noticed a few things that were rather attention grabbing about this IIDX machine. For one thing, it had an exposed e-amusement card reader that had cords connecting it in the back. During gameplay, the bottom read "Network-Off" so it wasn't active at the time (obviously), but as I was playing I noticed that Vanessa, Fascination MAXX, and all of the VIP ROOM songs were unlocked for regular gameplay. Now, I don't really know a whole lot about IIDX, but isn't e-amusement the only way to unlock the Extra Stage songs regularly?
Anyway, I'm bragging because I believe my arcade just got a IIDX Gold machine that was formerly connected to e amuse.
It's just too bad I can't play IIDX.

Yep, that's how it works. Open the machine, pop the disc in the PS2 based wajjamacallit and then it's done.

IIDX Gold is not based on PS2, it's on Bemani PC
But it basically worked pretty much the same

and don't get me started on STREET FIGHTER 4.

Another TGA member I see...? If so, what's your handle/name? I'm Piano Man / Brendan, and I'm there on Thursdays.
Also, in regards to the GOLD machine, it would either have gotten the Beat 3 unlock (all the eMuse/Boss stuff) via a disc or software patch. Last I checked our arcade (TGA / Tokyo Game Action) does it via software patches. If it says "Network Off", that means no e-Muse.
Regardless, congrats on your arcade getting the machine, and you should play! Granted, IIDX is mean as hell to beginners, but it's worth it in the long run. Make it make it money!

Ah... East coast versus West coast thing here then...
Didn't know you guys had V5; just V4. Staying on topic, it's a shame that even with eMuse readers and everything, we still have to be offline.
*in Engrish accent* "You want eMuse? Sorry, "round eyes", no eMuse for you!"
*confuddled American* "Why not?"
"Did we not say "round eye" loud enough?"
Viper, what arcade are you at?

Nah, we in the US will never get eAmusement, no matter how hard we bitch and whine. I mean the only US Bemani games are: DDR. That's it.

Gameworks at Arizona Mills Mall in Tempe.
Pretty nice place, but I'm sure it's nothing compared to Arcade Infinity.
And what are you talking about AnxD? We bitched and whined and they gave us e-amuse. That one machine is good enough for the whole country isn't it?

Don't worry Viper, I'm sure your arcade is really nice compared to most other arcades. AI and Tokyo Game Action are anomalies.

Good arcades nowadays are a rarity. My only standard for a good arcade is where the owners/operators have basic understandings of all the games, and they're all kept in good conidition (if a sensor fails, it only takes less than a week for replacement, not a month).
I have a personal vendetta against redemption/ticket games, but even if an arcade has those, as long as the kids aren't allowed free reign over the place like a daycare, then they don't bother me all that much.
I'm really proud to be a member and staffer of TGA for two reasons. One is the pedigree that goes with it for being an officially recognized Bemani arcade, in addition to being recognized by Tougeki for our fighters (gonna jab at AnxD about our official cabs since you mentioned SF4 earlier).
But the second, and the biggest thing for me, is that Andy (the owner) and fellow staff like myself, actually love and take care of our machines. Hell, we're closing for a bit so Andy can go to Japan for parts. When was the last time a Tilt in a mall closed so they could repair their crap? Sorry to rant; the actual state of arcades in America has been a hot topic of discussion amongst my friends the past few days...
Going back to e-Amuse in the US, I'm hopeful for a larger expansion of it with DDR X, depending on how much USB interaction there is for edits or score keeping or whatever. From there we'll have to see. <_<

We got Custom cabs with 47" Monitors and Sanwa buttons/sticks. :D Not to mention each game is 50 cents but yeah our arcade owner is really knowledgeable about all the games he owns. It doesn't take him long to upgrade machines.

Sounds nice. As for us, official first party cabs for the win. Not sure if we have Sanwa or Hori on the sticks/buttons, but whichever you can't complain they're both awesome.

Same with Andy. Usually our only delay for upgrades is being able to afford them, but sometimes there's a wait in getting dealers/distributors to get them to us.. Right now we have Empress, BlazBlue and DDR X on the table, so we're doing what we can with fundraisers and such. If e-Amuse does ever come out, that'll be another expense with the yearly membership fees. Thank god we already have the readers and cards...
Sorry to have strayed from the thread topic, and it seems the thread topic has already been fully discussed, so I'll back down for now.

Haha, BlazBlue sucks imo unfortunately. They have it at another arcade near my location: Super Arcade.
It's basically:
Arcade Infinity: Rhythm Games + Street Fighter + Maximum Tune 3 + Some other fighting games.
Super Arcade: All the other games.
I'd like to visit TGA with their 8? SF4 machines.

LWL, don't flip out too much. AI and TGA are kind of atypical for arcades, so it's not like you should feel like you're missing out or anything. Honestly, I realize how very lucky I am to be near TGA, and I'm sure AnxD will say similar things in regards to himself.

TGA is rhythm, all fighters, Wangan 3 and Initial D 4. Essentially AI, but with more fighters and racers, plus some miscellaneous Candy cabinets upfront.Super Arcade: All the other games.

No, we only have 4 SF4 cabs, not 8. Which is kind of a good thing, we're pressed for room in the fighter room as is (the fighting games have they're own space, and it is getting really crowded now thanks to the SF4 cabs...). You should really be wanting to visit for our Richard Bagman Chicken; it's so powerful! Sorry, couldn't resist dropping something about Richard Bagman (TGA joke, PM me if you want an explanation).
