Well, I would like that in the next IIDX, because I thought it was a good idea, you could have a bit of freestyle in some songs, and give a "touch" of different from the common version of the song.
In case you do not know what is "Free scratch zone", it's a kind of new "note" (similar to freeze notes in DDR) only appeared in Beatmania US and lets you do scratches freely for a time period doing the song a little personalized.
what do you think?

I'm a real beginner at this game, but am I mistaken, or in Beatmania US can you add extra notes/scratches into the song at will without penalty? It seems like, but I'm not sure at all, that if I hit an extra key or scratch, there is no penalty as long as it isn't near a required note. Maybe there is a penalty and I just haven't noticed it?

crunc, play 5key Metal Gear Solid Theme, you'll see what we mean.
Also I think this is a horrible idea. Sorry
Scoring is broken when these are introduced, and it makes the song sound crappy, and would definately sound bad on IIDX.
Also it was actually taken from beatmania 6th mix or bmIII 6th IIRC

Well there is All-Scratch mode. Where the whole song is you scratching. Closest thing we have. Debuted in IIDX15 DJTROOPERS.

Would rolls work? It's kind of the same thing, but it would work like in Taiko or ITG.

Free Scratch Zones were only in 1st, 2nd, Yebisu, and bmUS. Unlike in bmUS, the ones in 1st/2nd/Yebisu gave you a Good or Great, depending on if you scratch the seemingly camouflaged red lines in them.

Cool idea, however it failed in my opinion. It really fucks up scores, and the KOC that came with the bundle did not help on the free scratch zones either, as mine, and others were saying the turntable kept sticking.
