Hello! This is a project I've spent the last couple of months working on and am now proud to share. This is a modification of Beware's DDR Extreme simulation that aims to add in most of the old songs from previous mixes as well as reorganize the song folders.

Here's what I've changed:
-Added revivals missing from the original extreme arcade.
-Revivals without Single Beginner or Double Heavy charts have been given new ones,
either taken from zenius-i-vanisher or created by myself. (See revision 1)
(Hot Limit and Oops... I did it Again (Fired Up Mix) are custom short versions from nDDRo.)
-Added the fanmade song pack DDR MAX3, as well as some other nDDRo custom stepcharts.
-Reorganzied the Group Sorting, Group sort now displays in the following order:
DDR Extreme
DDR Club Version
DDR Home/CS (Repurposed for Songs from the North American PS2 Releases, with one surprise extra)
DDR 1st Mix
DDR 2nd Mix
DDR 3rd Mix
DDR 4th Mix
DDR 5th Mix
DDR MAX
DDR MAX2
DDR MAX3
-Group Coloring is also a little different:
Green = Any songs new to extreme
Blue = Revivals
Purple = MAX3/nDDRo songs
-Songs from the removed folders have been moved into their respective game folder of origin.
(With the exception of Sky High which technically comes from DDR Solo but was moved to DDR Extreme.)
(All other Solo songs can be found in the 4th Mix folder)

The Project can be downloaded here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vQPpNcngUl7IQBpqhbUH6B0SKdfQe8c6/view?usp=sharing
(Link Updated to Revision 2)

Credits can be found in the "updated-readme", the changelog above was taken directly from that file.

If you notice anything that appears to be off please let me know and I'll look into it.

(Also BG Brightness is set to 50%, as well as Danger and Beginner Helper are turned off for better visibility.
These settings can be changed in the Background Options Menu.)

Revision 1:
-Added Proper Credit for the doubles charts (found in custom-doubles-charts).
-Swapped some Doubles Charts for new ones

Revision 2
-Fixed Doubles Chart Credits
-Swapped some Doubles Charts for new ones
-Removed CDtitles fully
-Removed song specific BGAs (caused issues and in some cases crashing, songs will still use random movies.)
-Added MAX USA CS songs to the Home DDR folder.

Cool project, I’m definitely gonna check this out. A couple questions though, why use a custom short Hot Limit and not the official one from DDR Universe? Do the extra songs have new BG scripts or do they just play random movies? Does Celebrate still have the wrong BPM like it did in the original Beware Extreme?

The readme file does not explicitly state which doubles charts you created or pulled from zenius-i-vanisher.

1. Can you please provide a list of the charts you made and the charts you pulled from zenius-i-vanisher?
2. Alternatively, can you include this information in the readme file?

If they included custom bga's in the zip download on zenius then they should still have them. Honestly I had completely forgotten about the version of Hot Limit from DDR Universe. I don't know what celebrates BPM is supposed to be so I couldn't tell you, I didn't mess with any of the files already in the game so it should be the same? If it's not I can look into it.

I only made charts for songs that I couldn't find ones for since I'm not really the best charter... I can try and compile a list of charts I used, though it may take me a while.

So much thanks for share your project and i really glad to beware too,i was doing "my personal version" too but i got some headaches with song title banner in each song on photoshop, lol, anyway do you added the custom video scripts on these removed songs? i will read the changes on your TXT but these scripts is really fun also.

Uploading a revision with credits for all the doubles charts, some of which I have changed out for new ones.

The download will be unavailable until it is uploaded. I will edit the original post whenever that is.

Original Post Updated, you may now download the project again.

They should all have random movies, if songs have custom BGAs they should use those instead.

Edit: Certain songs don't have them... that's odd.

Edit 2: Songs with their own BGA's don't display the custom BGA so I'm going to have to remove them and just let the game use random movies. I have a few things to add/fix so I will release one hopefully final patch tomorrow.

songs with their own BGA overlap a random movie and the arrows look laggy, its like two videos in the same song at the same time
songs like go west crash the game ;(

Uploading a revision with credits for all the doubles charts, some of which I have changed out for new ones.

Special Energy
1. This is not credited to anyone in the readme file

There are edits I made with "Edit by silenttype01" deleted from the description.
Example: my edits for the solo charts do not have them in your files. my edit for Gentle stress has it.
2. Can you re-add the descriptions where applicable?

Been So Long,
I'm Alive (Solo 2000),
I'm Alive (Solo Bass Mix),
Love So Groovy,
Together & Forever (Solo Bass Mix),
Typical Tropical

3. Can you update the credits to mentioned you altered my file? The files in your pack do not match what I created.
4. Alternatively, can you update the sm files to reflect my recent uploads?

I Don't Want To Miss A Thing (Planet Lution Mix),
Love Machine,
Money

5. These are credited to me, but they are not my edits

Thanks for including my edits!

Alright I'm gonna address everything with the same numbers you used.

1. (See 5)

2. I believe I have added the description to all applicable files. Please inform me if I missed any.

3/4. I've reverted some of these files back to how they were originally (I copied them again from your simfile page). For the files that I just removed some mines from I left a note under them in the custom-doubles-charts file.

5. Congrats, now they are your files! And so is Special Energy.

All these changes will be in the next revision when I post it.

In the next patch I will have removed the song specific BGAs since they cause issues and I don't know how to fix it. I assume that's why the original Extreme simulation opted to just use Random Movies as well.

Revision 2 is now available to download Big Grin

Man this is crazy. I remember doing something similar but properly correcting things as CDtitles, BGAs, fonts and chart ratings way back in 2020 and people essentially stoned me to death for doing so lol. You have some serious errors related to theme metrics and a dozen or so errors pop up when running in windowed mode often, make sure you haven't accidentally removed any parts of it.

Can I ask what you're doing when these errors pop up? I don't see anything pop up when running it in windowed mode.

Interesting project. I've been wanting to give a try to replicate the title card songs too although I can't really figure out the exact stroke size for the borders lol

https://i.imgur.com/0pafHOx.png

I might follow the project, I perhaps could help by creating custom background animations for songs that don't have them

If you wanted to do that, that would be great. I know everything included in the original has a scripted background but everything added seems to be hit or miss if it will actually use the random movies and I have no idea why.

Is this that i was trying to saying in my post before. i was doing some cards fonts edits in photoshop but not got the same quality as these ones that you had created. If kitgamer mix these title cards and customs BG's scripts in his project will be more closer to the DDR Extreme, anyway i hope that this project got an update with these because a DDR Extreme with all the legacy simfiles would be really awesome.

That was exactly the thread I read before I made those cards, although as I said I couldn't get the right size for the outer strokes of the font. It's either too wide or too thin compared to the original ones (plus I don't have access to the other weights, only W9) haha
