DDR 1st mix to 5th Mix BGAs (and more) // download

Hello everyone!

As some of you already know, I've been recreating classic DDR backgrounds/BGAs, from 1st Mix to 5th Mix, including console versions like "OHA-STA" (among many others) and arcade versions (although that's taking time). So far, I've finished and shared the BGAs for DDR 2nd Mix and DDR 2nd Mix Club Version, and the overall project is practically complete.

Unfortunately, I was informed that some people were claiming this work as their own, which is a bit discouraging, especially since it was something done for the community and in my free time.
My goal is to share these classic backgrounds from the aforementioned games with the Stepmania/OutFox community. It's something I've always wanted for myself, but I also want to share it with others who might like it.

I remember having this idea and I tried to do this before creating beat4sprite, but I stopped because I wanted to create a system / library to make animations synced to any song, even if it had this retro style from the games. =)

Hello, these are background videos. I'm working on them to be able to release them as soon as possible, since some videos require a different brightness or contrast setting, but rest assured that they will be available for free download very soon.

Ohh, this is a pretty great project, I really like how it almost matches the animations Konami made for the DDR Selection songs!

Something a bit small, perhaps you should use Handbrake to reencode your videos, they're pretty huge and Handbrake should help you reduce their filesizes by a lot

I extracted the animations from the console version itself; they aren't videos animated from scratch, they're original to the game.
Regarding the video size, yes, I know. I'm currently working with the "3rd Mix" animations, but with a smaller file size while maintaining good quality.

Another suggestion to cut down on file sizes: since the different animations tend to get re-used throughout the song, maybe you could split them into individual clips and re-use them, like with the scripts we have for the MAX-EXTREME era songs and videos?

I know they're very large files; I'm currently working on smaller, high-quality animations for "DDR 3rd Mix."

Yes, it's possible to cut the videos because they tend to be reused, but the problem is that to insert them into the song, you'd have to edit each song's .sm file, place each fragment in its original position, and not many people know how to do that.

Anyway, I'm recreating the videos in a smaller file size, since the DDR 2nd Mix backgrounds only have 35 songs.

I can see how not everyone is used to working with BGChange scripts. I am, so I did that with my copy, although one thing I noticed is every time a kaleidoscope effect is repeated throughout a given song, its starting position changes with each instance, so they all have to be cut out and saved as separate clips.

Another thing you might consider is to keep the videos in their native resolution, i.e. 320x240, instead of upscaling them. Again, this is a matter of taste, so maybe keep that as a separate download option. and I'm totally not saying that because I just plain don't like Eagle-style upscaling filters myself

Consider using XviD, H.263 or H.264 instead of MJPEG if you upload 720p or 1080p videos at 30 FPS.
Also, Consider upload on 4000 Kbps to save disk space.
