Honestly, I think even Doubles Basic is kind of unnecessary. The charts don't generally move fast enough to teach you anything useful about Doubles movement. For me, the best way to get into Doubles was to learn the basics on Single mode, and then hop right into Difficult charts on Doubles.
The earliest DDR games seemed to have the same idea: The songs only had two Doubles charts each, and while they were named "Basic" and "Trick", they were more difficult than their Single equivalents.

The only times where that was a thing were the Xbox/360 DDR games. They aren't considered official Bemani titles, though, as they were made in conjunction with third party companies.

You'd be surprised how many people i've seen who have been really good at singles but literally couldn't get their head around the patterning on doubles or transitioning. Plus back in the day Freestyling was super common on basic doubles stuff so it definitely has it's place regardless.
But yeah only doubles beginner charts that have ever existed were on the xbox games and they were all autogenned, same for the triple and quad charts which also had beginner modes.

What do you mean by autogenned? Do we know that the developer used some kind of autogen they built?

I just double checked, it was just ultramix 2 was completely autogenned from the light charts for double beginner, apparently they actually wrote unique stuff after that. The triples and quads though definitely from what I'd seen were just regular charts that had been stretched really badly and had massive chunks missing

Not official Bemani titles because other companies assisted with making them? Genuinely never seen that reasoning before.
I suppose the Bemani logo on their covers is just for laughs or something then, that makes way more sense now.

Yeah I don’t think how that works either. Karaoke Revolution was developed by Harmonix but Bemani’s logo is still on the back

Is there Double Beginner (BSP) chart?
First off, BSP is Basic, not Beginner. It's customary to use a lowercase b for Beginner.
Second, bSP would be Beginner Single Play. That's what the S stands for. Single.
What you want is bDP. And that doesn't exist in arcades. However, in DDR World, there are 3 BDP charts rated 2 on the X-scale, which are for all intents and purposes "beginner" charts. And there are plenty or 3s. (No 1s though).

I disagree. With newer BDP charts, the intent is to have the player alternate feet as much as possible to learn the pad transitions at a slower speed. Also BDP charts are great for those who want to get some starting Doubles MFCs. For someone like me who plays singles with the bar but doubles exclusively no-bar, I think the BDP charts are great to practice accuracy.
