I realize this is probably "Stepmania 101" for most of you but I need to ask this so I can try and do this on my DDR stepfiles.

So one of the things I noticed while playing on Stepmania and watching DDR gameplay videos is that some songs on DDR trigger the "Stage Cleared" shutter as soon as the last step or the end of a freeze arrow passes over the step zone while others have a significant delay. A pretty good example of this is "MAX.(period)" in DDR 2014 and "only my railgun" in X2.

How do I implement these delays in Stepmania?

i remember on stepmania 3.95 i used to edit the smfile itself and add lines of zeros to the stepcharts to extend the chart beyond what the last step was to simulate that delay... depending on if its possible in sm5 you either do it for one chart for the song or you do it for every chart for the song. messy but doable if possible

ex:

Max. period's final CSP line in the chart was a freeze so it'd appear like this in the sm file: "3000" . then you'd add 4 rows of zeroes per line like so.

3000

0000
0000
0000
0000

0000
0000
0000
0000

and trial and error it till the delay feels right.
thats how i did it during the sm 3.95 redux days.

So no idea if it's still the case for outfox or SM5 but stepmania used to at least keep playing until the last note of the longest chart for the song is done. So a lot of modfiles and things with delays would typically have a lights chart or a random chart on a random mode nobody plays with a single note or mine where you want the song to finish. There's no inbuilt setting i'm currently aware of to apply it to all songs though Sad
