Hi! Is it possible to specify, perhaps in metrics, the first song that Stepmania 3.9 will display/preview when starting a new game? I remember back when Stepmania MAX2 was released, instead of starting on A Minute, it started right in the middle of the songlist, on Long Train Runnin' or something like that, which is exactly what I'm trying to achieve. I believe the first song you hear when starting a game, plays a very important role when it comes to simulating the authentic DDR experience, like Graduation (DDR Extreme), Remember You (DDR 5th Mix PSX), I'm Alive (DDR Solo 2000) or Shock (DDR 3rd Mix Korea Ver. 2).
Also, is it possible to specify which song folder will be the default one? For example, instead of:
- DDR 1st Mix
- DDR 2nd Mix
- DDR 3rd Mix
...to show something like:
- DDR 3rd Mix
- DDR 1st Mix
- DDR 2nd Mix
Currently, I use a number to have that custom sorting, like:
- 01.- DDR SuperNOVA
- 02.- DDR Extreme
- 03.- DDR MAX2
- 04.- DDR MAX
...but it would look nicer without the number. Any suggestions? Thank you so much in advance.

A lot of info to digest but... the "SongManager PreferredSongs" file may work for you. I personally use the preferred songs method in my 5.3 SM build as i can mimic current DDR builds down to their GOLDEN LEAGUE folder.
(ex: japanese lettering, a-z, 0-9)(A3 at the top with DDR 1st at the bottom)
the preferred sort song manager file appears under the "Themes" folder you use, inside the "Other" folder.
please note it is a large undertaking as you need to specify what folder comes first, then which song appears first but once finished, it'll look and feel just like the arcade mix you want to emulate.
an example of how my preferred sort appears:
GOLDEN LEAGUE A3, DDR A3, DDR A20PLUS, DDR A20, DDR A, DanceDanceRevolution 2014, etc. (that's how i name my folders)
EX:
---GOLDEN LEAGUER'S PRIVILEGE A3
DDR A3\SURVIVAL AT THE END OF THE UNIVERSE
DDR A3\Ability
DDR A3\Sector
---DDR A3
DDR A3\Adrenaline

Thank you so much for your reply! Do you know if this works on Stepmania 3.9? I'm asking because none of my themes have that file that you mentioned.
