I just finished editing my profile and now on my top bar of the site, there's a red X after my name. Why is it there and how do I make it go away?

it's a strike, presumably for your numberous necrobumps and posts consisting of nothing but smashing your keyboard and hitting "send"

The X is a signifier that you've received a strike for infractions. Namely, your habit of necrobumping threads, posting nonsense text strings, or both at the same time finally attracted the ire of the moderators. If you get 3 strikes, that's an automatic ban, so I advise you to take this strike as a sign to get your act together, especially after you went back on what you said in the Warnings and Bans thread.

One last question: are bans temporary or permanent? And do they keep you from viewing even the simfiles and other non-forum things here?
