Ready for some real mother-******* talk? (Lol MAD-Tv reference) Tongue

We shall discuss the various missions we have had to endure to unlock our favorite songs in the many games that Konami has cranked out here.

I'll try to post up a new mission to discuss every few days (unless a particular topic interests people). I'm probably not going to remember the exact number of the mission but there will be a description.

Today's Topic:

SN: Stellar World, Pizza Box and The Last.

Song: MAX 300 (Super-Max-Me-Mix) Challenge.

Description: Regardless of rhythm, get 500 combos before the song ends (The Last) OR finish the song before it ends (Pizza Box) (A.k.a, "Simon Says")

Just one question for this topic:

Have you finished either mission on a mat? Surprised

Discuss.

Mission mode on DDR Extreme2, DDR Str!ke and DDR SuperNOVA USA was terrible. Not many people interested with weird rules while playing DDR especially for specific difficulty. How to know the rythm if at first we gived horrible rules and we still didn't know how the song goes like. I think Mission mode is optional to get hidden songs more quickly instead regular method by overplaying some songs, just like DDR SuperNOVA 2 (Gosh, finally get all hidden songs now more easily).

Wow, wow, wow.... clearing mission mode on Dancing mat? Sounds impossible because some mission playing with horrible modifyer and make me difficult to finish them all.

I for one loved DDR Extreme 2's Mission Mode. SN's? Not so much...I really liked EX2's Mission Mode for the fact that there was more of a free-roaming feel to it. Whenever you cleared one challenge, most of the time you'd unlock another, so clearing a challenge actually felt like you achieved something. That, and when you thought you'd finished, there were always hidden goals/hidden arrows to find.

Eh.

Extreme 2's mission mode had missions that I didn't even want to touch.

For example, I unlocked PARANOiA Survivor through time. There was no way in hell that I could AA Speed over Beethoven in Hidden. Annoyed

Then there was that My, My, My mission where you had to step every arrow of a certain color. I never passed that. -_-

SuperNOVA had some good missions. I liked the Simon says missions and the weird gimmicky ones like DoLL at .25 speed. The first time I played a Boss song in a mission felt pretty awesome.

Oh god, the worst that I've done were on Ex2. "My, My, My", don't hit any red notes, get perfect or great for all others was only bearable because I was on the controller, so I didn't have to worry about accidently hitting a step. Same for "I Will Survive", don't hit any down arrows (except the extra arrow on that mission was a down!). I'm not even going to say anything about area E, where it really gets mean.
btw, after many tries, I AAed "Speed Over Beethoven" standard hidden on that mission. Not as many tries as that blasted AAA on "Look At Us" beginner took though.

SN1 had pretty good goals early on, but they got rough after a while, like FC'ing Chaos.

So far, with every DDR I've got except HP, I've ended up unlocking the ones that are hard to unlock through play time. Probably be true for DDR X and DDR HP2 too, though hopefully I'll be able to unlock a higher proportion through skill when they come out.

Fortunately, DS MAX was a lot nicer when it came to missions...anyway, in Area E, what was the song that had the '70%+, <10 Max Combo' challenge in EX2? Ours was Michael.

I don't recall it off the top of my head so I'm pretty sure it was a crappy license. In fact, I don't think we had a "finish song with <10 combos" in EX2. They were abundant in SN though.

EX2 made me happy in many ways but the most of the licenses (except CJ: GM and Cartoon Heroes) were unbearable.

I remember looking at an FAQ to find the quickest route to unlock SAKURA. When I got it, I was a happy boy. Happy

Today's Topic

SN: Stellar World The Last

Requirement 8: AA 3 songs on Expert or challenge (AA'ing one song on Expert and Challenge will only register once).

Problem?

Your songlist:

Fascination MaxX
MAX 300 (SMMM)
Healing-D-Vision
Chaos
Xepher

Questions:

1) WTF Konami?!?
2) How long did it take you to finish it, providing that you did?
3) What songs did you use for this?

Discuss.

1) Well, it is at the end of the game.
2) A few hours.
3) HDV, CHAOS, Xepher (all Heavy.)

"I'm honestly pissed off."
1) Konami wanted people to really have to work for that Pizza box stage.
When I took my save to a friend's party, they had no clue Pizza box even existed, even though they had all songs unlocked.
2) That was the one requirement for that joint that I never did, not even on controller. I did the hidden "Complete all song on all difficulties" one instead.
3) Xepher, Chaos, and MAX 300 (SMMM) would probably be the easiest to AA, provided you can put up with playing Chaos 19842647819478 times to memorize all the steps. HDV would be easier to AA than SMMM, except for the 16ths that don't follow anything.

But what do I know? I can only AA a couple 9's, and no A's on 10's.

The thing is when I played it, I wasn't that good. I kept on spamming Xepher and CHAOS and messing with mods in hopes of getting a AA

The magic combination for me was 2x, Left for Xepher and 2x, Right, Reverse for CHAOS.

I played HDV Expert for days on end and facepalmed when I found out that you can put on Jump 1 and crush that song into oblivion.

Nowadays though, I can AA and FC these songs without trying.

... on a controller mind you Annoyed

That damned Hidden stage thing never came up for me and I logged in 15 hours there. It FINALLY unlocked itself after I AA'd my last song .

What? I thought you had to get the AA with no mods, period, which meant that if you wanted Note or a speed mod, you had to set the mod on player 2, and watch that side. Dang, checking the faq, I could have used mods.

The hidden trial thing only came up for me bit by bit, because I went through playing every song on every difficulty, no mods. Apparently, it was beginner that I hadn't played them on.

CHAOS Heavy And Xepher Heavy are quite doable, and Healing-D-Vision is pretty much close enough. Though it'd be easier if it was in triples so I wouldn't be getting Greats all over.

BUT I THOUGHT THEY FOLLOWED THE DRUMS

Re-Re-Rebirth.

Next topics. (I'm putting up two today Tongue)

A) Extreme 2: The Final Mission.

Song: Butterfly (Upswing Mix) Challenge 9
Mods: Reverse, Boost, Note, Butterfly arrows.

Mission: Full combo the song.

1) Did you ever unlock this?
2) Regardless of whether or not you've unlocked this, can you FC the song with those mods?
3) Does it fit as the very final mission in EX2?

B) SuperNOVA (I just like discussing the missions in this game Surprised): Stellar World: Nitro

Mission 8: Full combo a song on Heavy or Challenge with Gus as the dancer.

1) Did you hate Gus after this mission? Annoyed
2) What song did you use?

"I'm honestly pissed off."
A)
1) Nope. Never got past the CH or CJ or DR, or Sakura missions in area E.
2) Maybe one the controller. On foot I'd inevitably miss something. I'm always facing the wrong way when I do the crossover stream.
3) Yeah. It's pretty much the roughest one.

B)
1) No.
2) Can't remember.

Bump: 'nother moan about hard SN1 mission.
Quote: CyricZ
Drill PB-1:
Song: UNKNOWN (Feeding Time)
Challenge: Remember that left-right giant sixteenth cluster? Yup, it's back.
Now? Just complete it. The whole dang thing. 639 steps. Send Konami your
med bills.

And as if the 16ths weren't bad enough, there's NOTHING in the music that plays that's running at a 16th rhythm, so you just have the basic rhythm to guide you, and it's moving 1/4 the speed you have to move.

Anybody done this one? How much were your med bills, if you did it on your feet? How long before you could walk again?

It's not that hard, in fact, i've completed the entire song, yep, no medical bills after that. And I could still walk, too.

A)
1. No, never got to it
2. Probably, haven't tried it though
3. It's a kinda weird choice of a song, but it sounds challenging enough

B)
1. honestly, yeah, haha.
2. I'm pretty sure it was AA cuz that was the only song i could bare listening to over and over again while waiting for him to show up.

as for the "PB-1" drill...i actually had a lot of fun with that one, haha. and yeah, i did do that one with my feet, i can't seem to get my fingers to constantly hit the same to arrows back and forth for any extended amount of time.
