"QUACK! (♫ Xuxa - Smiley)" |
What the title says. >_<
This goes for every step game I’ve played (DDR, PIU, Stepmaniax).
If it’s worth noting at all I’m 5’2/157 cm, not sure if this could be because of my awkward height so in case it is I’ll put that out there.
But playing while holding the bar at all makes my arms hurt while playing, and they ache really badly afterwards. I don’t think I’m good enough to go no-bar yet; I’ve tried but I don’t think I’ve gotten the hang of the games yet.
Any advice? D: Idk what I’m doing wrong.

Are you stretching before and after a session? Maybe even between songs? Are you holding the bar firmly and playing with good form?
Try to treat it like you would treat weight-lifting. It may be something you have to get used to as you play and find what works for you, whether that's a different way of gripping the bar, using a towel over the bar, using gloves, adjusting your playstyle, doing some arm/shoulder exercises on the side, or just going no-bar. Be careful not to hurt yourself too.

I feel that, I used to feel static in my arms using the bar.
I would suggest trying not to lean your body weight a lot into the bar, or try to loosen your grip on it (you may be holding it too hard). Make sure you're taking sufficient breaks and drinking water
(Just realized, we're the same height lulz)

i'm not super tall either, but what makes it worse is holding up all my weight with, try using it just to lean yourself away from the bar, and make sure not to sink into the pads as you're playing (i still have a habit with this on 18s
)
