"Make it make money" |
Last updated: 2017-03-28 08:20pm
Hey, Zenius!
I'm Kappatalist, but hereon in you can call me M.P.B.L. Because every chart author should have some dumbass extra alias, am I right?
You may know me from... nothing, actually, because I've been on Zenius for less than a month. On top of that, I started playing DDR less than 2 months ago as of this OP.
I was introduced to DDR by a friend and his awesome Stepmania setup. He showed me this magical site called Zenius-I-vanisher where you could get any song ever in simfile form. But to my dismay, I searched for some songs and they just didn't show up.
"Well, I've charted for Rock Band before. How hard could DDR charting be?" said Kappatalist.
And here we are, with my first public release on Zenius. My friends and I think they're pretty fun. You be the judge.
Please let me know if anything in my charts is too obnoxious or if you feel that a chart is misrated. I'm open to feedback.
Without further ado:

This is M.P.B.L. Originals.
I'll be releasing charts as singles or in small packs of 3-so at a time here.
- I chart difficulties
-
for single pad play (
may also be included; some charts may be
-only under some circumstances, like if it's a remix of a song I've already charted). I don't have any means of playing Double mode, so I don't chart for it. Sorry!
- All ratings are on the X scale.
- I typically try to chart songs which haven't been released on Zenius already.
- When possible, I'll include synchronized HD videos with charts. (Videos may lag out of sync on some setups from my experience. They work well on my hardware - that's all I know.)
- I'm both an amateur player and new chart author, so I don't guarantee the quality of my step charts. However, I think they play pretty well for the most part. I can play up to 13s/easy 14s, but I have a friend who can handle 16s and 17s for testing purposes.
- Some of my charts were requested by personal friends of mine. Some of them I decided to make of my own accord. If you show me a song and I think it's rad, maybe it'll end up being my next new chart.
- I swear to God, I don't ONLY chart Vocaloid songs. I'm not like them, I promise! For reals! But it probably looks like it, huh. Well, whatever. You can't tell me what to do! But yes, I do have terrible taste. I've already made peace with the pointlessness of it all, so just play this dance video game okay

One of my very first charts, of one of the songs from Project DIVA I found most memorable. An energetic chart with a stop section you'll want to memorize and a chaotic breakdown section.

Starts off deceptively boring, and then the record-scratch moment hits. On a side tangent, this one was a real bitch to cut down to less than 2:30. I think it was worth the struggle, though. So enjoy it... or die.

A boss chart! Expect some really jarring BPM shenanigans to be had, along with a lot of rough jumps on the higher difficulties. Challenge doesn't change TOO much but does add shock arrows to the equation. Bit of a lazy move, but honestly I felt like it was hard enough as is.
Hopefully I did these songs justice. Well, probably not, but in any case you can download them below!

So this is the opening song to some anime, but I personally know it as "the song that plays when a certain friend of mine turns onto the highway because it sounds like something out of Initial D and we don't have any actual Initial D music on the playlist." We agreed that this needed to exist.
Mind the tempo changes and stops! This chart has a lot of bursty steps on Expert, and becomes an insane endurance on Challenge. However, as long as you employ MULTI-FOOT STEPPING, you'll clear in true In〇tial D style!
No video for this one, by the way. I made an edit of the full version of the song before realizing that there was a TV sized version I could use. If there's demand, I can release a version of the chart for the TV size version of the song, and include the appropriate video.

A double pack featuring the intro from a fairly recent anime series, Youjo Senki. It's pretty great, you should check it out.
As for the simfiles, they're two sides of the same song. The original mix runs a more typical stepchart, while the dj-Jo remix opens the door to a more gimmicky Challenge-only Shock Arrow chart.
Are you prepared to step into a warzone?

Expect more to come in the future! And it probably won't be Vocaloid either! Unless you want it to be...
Thanks for checking out my thread!

My first pack is a set of 3 Vocaloid songs you might have heard in a certain rhythm game. When Future Tone dropped, I got the itch to port some of the more popular tracks from Project DIVA* into everyone's favorite DDR simulator.
* Popular among my friend group**, anyway.
** I just really like Peace of Mind Committee, okay?

Always fun to read a simfile author's stories.
Downloading now.
Welcome to Zenius.
Edit: -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Played the files and noticed a few things.
-Doublestepping here and there on a chart.

You can argue that other parts in this simfile or the other two simfiles could be played correctly by footswitching in sections where there are jacks, and it's true, you can, but there are parts where you can't footswitch into playing a pattern correctly like the one above.
When playtesting your simfiles, if you're not playing with your index fingers only, or aren't dancing on an invisible pad to notice this issue, then I highly suggest playtesting them in a way that you could tell, that is, if these simfiles are meant to be played on pad.
-Something that really stood out to me were those mines in NegaPosi*Continues.

If you can successfully do that on a pad with your two legs, then that's great, but it's a really difficult and unfun thing to do to lay out mines on all 4 lanes after jumps at that speed of over 200 bpm. If it was slower and added to the chart, then it would work, but at the bpm, it's far from great.

Am willing to say that the mine bit isn't really an issue. It's only 4ths, even if it's at a 200BPM section.

Welp, I suppose I was kinda expecting all of these to be pretty bad.
As for Negaposi's
chart, it definitely was kind of an afterthought and I am considering just killing it. As for the general doublesteppiness, I'll go in later and take a look. It's supposed to be annoyingly brutal, but if I find anything particularly stupid, I'll revise it and reupload.
The issue with something like Negaposi is that I'm literally not good enough to adequately test its harder charts. I can personally survive the
14, but anything above admittedly didn't get too much real test play, so it doesn't have as much polish as some of my easier stuff. That's where you all come in, I guess!
@Aegis, I do "test" charts while making them by stepping the patterns out, but I do believe that some more difficult or awkward patterns do become impossible when you have to do them at really high speeds, so I didn't account totally for that.
The 4 mines in a row are just because I'm trying to chart to DDR spec (so, shock arrows, which only appear in full rows like that).
Thank you for the feedback!

DDR Mario Mix has bombs that can be only one arrow at a time. The weird thing about them though is if you stand on the arrow they do not detonate only if you actually press them when they overlap the target zone. But it shows that DDR has used individual mine type notes before.Quote: Aegis

Even better, just test them on a real pad. If it's too difficult then decrease the song speed to 0.75x or something.Post #6 · Publicado en 2017-02-27 12:46:03am Hace 8.1 años

That is true, Mario Mix did have weird single-lane attacks. But modern arcade DDR only uses full rows of shock arrows, so that's what I'm basing off of.
And as for testing on a real pad - I do! Obviously, though, I'm not quite good enough to handle my own harder charts. But, I forgot that you can actually slow down the entire song in Stepmania. Thank you for reminding me of that feature! Sadly, the pad I use is not my own, so I'm at the whim of when it is set up to actually test charts. Hopefully I'll get a chance tonight.

You can always play with your index fingers or mentally read it in your head without actually playing the song like you did when seeing the two pics above for your chart. Not as effective, but can prevent something you might not see when playing it on your feet since it could be too tricky or too fast.

Yeah, I actually just went in and fixed up Negaposi a little bit. Also removed some mines from Challenge and added a bonus little surprise to its beginning parts.
On top of that, a new song will be coming out tonight!

Charts seem rather fun also there is nothing wrong a few more vocaloid songs to add to the mix. Cannot wait to see what comes out next.
