Although I really have a feeling they will just release it on the PS2. With the PS2 they can do a direct port with a bit of tinkering here and there with the interface, while on the PS3 they would have to recreate the UI to support full HD. Then you'd have to check for frame consistency and all the jazz.
And this is just talking about one of the affecting factors.
I think Konami would do a good job at redoing the UI. I mean, look at the new AC screens for DDR and IIDX. They could take SIRIUS's UI from the AC and use it, couldn't they?
I mean, yeah, IIDX runs on Windows XP (at least the older ones did), but it's still used on nicer screens for more of a HD picture.
Nonetheless, the UI would have to be recreated to support full 1080p HD. I also believe Konami is fully capable of doing so, but it's the potential problems that could be run into along the way that makes the idea iffy.

I didn't know that.
But as you said, Konami is capable of recreating the UI at 1080p. As long as they got support from fans, I'm sure they would do a great job with it.
Hell, I wouldn't mind waiting for them to make the UI over again. As long as it looks great, I can be happy.

I don't think Konami will outsource IIDX. Last year, they outsourced Castlevania and DDR to almost completely unknown developers, but I think IIDX is far too "niche" to let someone mess with the formula. They know exactly what the IIDX audience wants, and that in order to justify releasing Sirius CS, they need to convince every potential customer to buy it, or they won't make a penny.

Especially with how many versions of IIDX exist.
Speaking of which, what about a PS3 release of pop n' music?

The stock answer is :
"Sony doesn't like anyone releasing PS3 games which look like PS2 games"
Pop'n Music Portable is on sale on the Playstation Network, but it can only be downloaded and played on PSPs, while some budget games can be downloaded on PSN, and either played on the PS3, or downloaded to the PSP. That seemed the best way to continue releasing Pop'n Music, but for whatever reason, that never happened, and it was PSP-only.

Where? I've been looking for it. The UMD version is so slow.
Edit: NVM, you wrote it can only be downloaded directly on the PSP. My bad.

I'm totally with KKiONI for beatmaniaIIDX 17 SIRIUS for PS2. I don't think it would be a good marketing decision to make the game for PS3 because as mentioned before, they would have to re-create the UI for HD support and go through a whole new slew of coding, as PS3 is not an easy platform to develop on as opposed to a platform that they're already familiar with (PS2). Development on the PS3 would cost more money, not to mention, the cost to manufacture new PS3-compatible IIDX controllers. There is a risk involved....they don't want to lose too much money if sales aren't high enough. There are many people in Japan who would be content with a PS2 release of this game. Easier for Konami; Faster for us.
If they make the game for PS2, then they could save money on resources and put out the game faster while still retaining the UI and features like they've done with the previous releases. Party Mode/League Mode could be utilized via Arcade/User Rival Data Management; the UI should be no problem (as usual) to emulate on PS2. The PS2 runs IIDX AC ports very well, mind you, as Konami has nearly perfected the coding formula. In the case of DLC, think of secret unlocks as that....I mean, why pay for the songs when you can unlock them in the game for free? Are 15+ revivals not enough? I think that's plenty! They usually give us preview and CS songs for free too....don't even get me started with all the unlockable stuff in the CUSTOMIZE section. Tackling the idea of Full HD IIDX, there really is no need because if you use component cables on your LCD/Plasma/LED TV, the picture quality will be very nice.......using those cables on a high end 26" widescreen CRT (like mines, lol) will give you the highest picture quality possible.
Also, in March 2011, the PS1/PS2 Konami Official beatmaniaIIDX Controllers will be re-released. Give Me A Sign why don'tcha!

Well lucky me. I have a PSP Go. Now I just need to find a way to get it. D:
Since I can't run TN-A on it, I'll have to find some other way...

Wouldn't a PS3 release mean that in theory, there would be no lag being as it would be running in native 720/1080p? If they could find a way to connect the PS2 controllers to the PS3 without any input lag from that end, I don't see why it shouldn't be on the PS3.

No, just cos the game output is the native display resolution of the displays, does not mean there won't be lag. It doesn't work like that. It depends on each TVs' individual internal picture processing, that is ultimately what determines the lag.
On some TVs, you can turn this processing off, this is an option known as "Game Mode" on some TVs.

I thought the lag stemmed from the tv upscaling the 480i/p resolution of the PS2. So there would be input lag even if it was running at the native resolution of the tv?

The lag is caused by the TV taking the signal from the PS2, and then processing / manipulating it in some way (including upscaling or re-scaling), before outputting it to the display.
It's.. what Alan said. Every TV is completely different.

Damn, so it wouldnt really be the end-all of lag if it was on the PS3; kind of a buzzkill.
In that case im rooting for it to be on the PS2, though ill still have to drag out the old sd tv

If it's on the PS3, you can still use component cables to connect it to your old TV, and play without lag.

Yeah but I dont own one. I probably wouldve bought one if it meant no lag on an hdtv but now it seems no different than on a PS2.
