I guess Nike Frees will be a good enough substitute if all else fails.

The least I can provide for my answer is a pair of white Adidas. But, they work pretty well, so I stick with them. ouo

This is my gear.
Aside from callouses I guess (hardening of the skin) and that sometime I tear a bit of my skin (not painful tho) when playing on bad, recessed pads, they never failed me all these 5 years.
That's how I play most of the time; I need to check out what shoes I have lying around though.Aside from callouses I guess (hardening of the skin) and that sometime I tear a bit of my skin (not painful tho) when playing on bad, recessed pads, they never failed me all these 5 years.

Liar. That's physically impossible. No one has ever passed Tsugaru .
Back on topic, I got a pair of Nike Free 3.0's and they seem to work really well.
They actually work a lot better than the Free Everyday's I used to have, and I thought those were great.

^I usually end up playing barefoot because I wear flip flops a lot.
I would love to try playing DDR in moon shoes.

I don't recommend ascics where the sole pattern has a sort of out-reaching set of parallel strips on the inner sole. You will shred them to where they fold and bend. They're comfy, but they wreck my already garbage PA.

I cut my teeth in DDR playing on home consoles on a DDRGame Tough Pad. As a result, pretty much playing with anything but socks seems weird. Since I upgraded to a metal pad, it took a few songs worth of sweat to get enough grip on my feet to avoid sliding around. But rubbing wet fabric against my skin and the plastic button was pretty much killing the balls of my feet, so I switched to yoga socks:
They have been a life saver.
