We have just named arcades "Round1 (ラウンドワン)" since the beginning, and everyone has carried on with it. But this year, Round1 USA is diversifying the types of stores they operate, opening stores that are arcade-only, without bowling. (This follows Round1 USA changing their primary logo from "Round1 Bowling & Amusement" to a new logo "Round1 Bowling & Arcade".) The new arcade-only stores have a different brand / logo to reflect that, and are classified by Simon as a separate brand as well.
Additionally, Round1 USA locations don't reference the Japanese text "ラウンドワン" at all (unlike Round1 China, which does reference "ランワン").
So I propose renaming all of the stores from "Round1 (ラウンドワン)" to reflect their new branding:
A. Round1 Bowling & Arcade (location name here)
B. Round1 Arcade (location name here)
Notably, this:
1. Drops the Japanese text.
2. Adds opening and closing parentheses around the location name
Anyone opposed to this proposal? Or care at all? Wanted to drop a heads-up before changing 50+ entries in the database.

I honestly always though it was kind of strange that we kept the Japanese text for American locations when no Round 1 I've ever been to has included that in the branding, like you've mentioned. I really doubt anyone's going to mind.

Fine by me; it was kinda tedious having to copypasta the Japanese text for consistency purposes. I already changed the Moreno Valley location to reflect the change, since like yindesu mentioned, we have to start specifying what type of locations these are, once the arcade-only stores start opening.

I have no strong feelings one way or the other. I kinda figured we included the katakana in the name for consistency with the Japanese locations.

Looks like @lbmixpro cares as they reverted two of them. But so far, that would be a minority opinion.

Yeah, I agree with the changes overall.
Part of me would prefer to keep the Japanese text to indicate they're related, in case some there's some independent arcade that calls themself something similar (to my knowledge, there isn't). However, since Round1 is pretty well known in the RGC, it's not a huge loss to take the Japanese out.

It seems the rename is already getting started, but I wanted to make sure it was okay by everybody else and I found out about this thread today. Since it won't affect how Round1 appears in the site search, I'm all for it. But let's use the same naming convention as Round1's website: Round1 [Bowling and] Arcade - City Name (Mall Name) so it's easier for non-locals to find the location by city and avoid confusion on list (Meadows is the name of both the Vegas and Reno locations).

I think just having:
Round1 [Bowling and] Arcade (Mall Name)
is suitable enough, since the city name is already listed in the database.

I think in cases like that, it would make sense, but it’s rare for two malls to share the exact same names. So I don’t think it’s necessary to do for every single Round1 location

Good idea.
I'm also going to use this convention for other chain locations that don't use special names for each location, like Dave & Buster's, Great Wolf and Bowlero.
Venue Name (mall/location name on website or city)
Even though Great Wolf has a "Northern Lights" arcade in all their locations, they a put their mini bowling game as its own attraction in a different location in the venue. Same with Omni Arena in locations that have it.
Golfland uses a strange naming convention where each location uses either uses it's own name, Golfland/SunSplash, or the name of it's original location (Scandia Golfland/Camelot Golfland). So I'm leaving those as-is.

I went ahead and formatted another regional arcade chain (Stars and Strikes) this way. They list city and state on the website, so went with that for parenthesis.
Naming is now consistent as some locations were listed as "Stars & Strikes" or "Stars and Strikes Family Entertainment Center".

I've been following the suggested convention of Chain Name (Location), but being a primarily English site how should chains in non-English countries be handled?
For example, currently there is a particular store in the ZiV map listed as namco 伊勢佐木町店 (Isezakichoten), the official name for this branch on Namco's site is namco伊勢佐木町店. We can probably change it to Namco (伊勢佐木町店) instead but that might not be helpful for people who aren't familiar with Japanese.
One suggestion may be to use Chain Name (location identifier) - english transliteration so it becomes either namco (伊勢佐木町店) - namco (Isezakichoten) or just namco (伊勢佐木町店) - Isezakichoten. I'm not sure if there are that many arcades where the chain name isn't in English too (maybe China and Taiwan?)

There are a few foreign arcades listed such as these two that have the English transliterated name, then the Japanese name in parenthesis.
I like the formatting above a little better since there's more of an English audience on this site, but we do have a handful of people in Asia that seem to maintain listings regularly. I don't know
