I deleted a bunch of .dwi files (searched for .dwi in the Songs folder and deleted all of them), but some songs didn't work, and I realized that some of the songs only have .dwi and no .sm so I need to "put back" all of them, but when I select multiple files that aren't in the same folder (which is basically every one), the option doesn't come up. Any ideas?

If you're on a Mac and the files are still in the Trash, right-click all of them at select Restore. They will be sent to where they were before they got deleted. You might have to do this to the files one at a time, I'm not certain.

I wanted to do this, but I really don't know which of my files only have .dwi for me to get started.
For now I can only do that with .old files.

Unfortuneatly the only way to know which files had .dwi is by doing them one at a time. It might be best to write down which songs have .dwi in them so you can find them faster.
a quick tip I learned with dealing .dwi only files. I know that this is irrelevant to what mageman17 is asking, but I wanted to share this tip.
Go to Edit mode (Edit Songs/Courses, this my differ on the theme your using)
Then go to the song(s) that is .dwi only and Edit Existing
Next hit Esc (uncertain if this function is the same on a Mac) and go to Save and hit enter (return on a mac)
This will then save the song as both an .sm and a .dwi so now you can delete the .dwi file with no worries.

I actually just finished putting them all back (one by one), with about 200+ files. It took a long time, but I made it!
I just had stepmania open with the recycle bin open as well. Went through stepmania to see which songs didn't have .sm files and put back all those.
I wish there was a feature that went through ever song and saved a .sm file for ones that didn't have it. Maybe I'll ask for that to be implemented as a feature in sm5.
