At my local arcade, there is an ITG2 machine that I love to play. However, the pads are slippery, so I am constantly afraid to move too much for fear of slipping. I'm using the same shoes that I use for other DDR machines, and I've never had this problem with any other machine.
Has anybody else ever had this problem? Is there a way to solve this or should I just grin and bear it?

If I had to offer some advice, it's as simple as one word: Windex
P.S. Windex increases grip/friction on pads, baby powder decreases grip/friction

I've considered using Windex to clear off a dance pad but I'm always afraid an operator or arcade employee will get pissy at me and kick me out or something. Any other options?

Baby powder. (but really don't do this)
I've only had this issue when I somehow get dust on my shoes. Windex might work but I've never tried it.

I don't have any experience as far as actually trying to make pads less slippery (I have had a run-in or two with some slippery pads before, mainly on PIU machines), but I think you could just spray your shoes with Windex before you get on the pads while no ones looking. If anything, the arcade owners won't immediately want to kick you out, and you'll just look like some weirdo who cleans their shoes with Windex before playing ITG.

Baby powder makes it slippier, silly

I spread my own sweat in panels. When it dries up as you play, it gives more grip or friction and more effective than water.

Thanks for the help guys. Next time I go, I'll see if I can convince the arcade owner to let me spray the pads with Windex, or at least have him do it.

Blehe38 says to spray your own shoes with Windex. Maybe that'll be better.

Considering what little kids and edgy early-teens get away with doing to arcade machines nowadays, I'd say you shouldn't really sweat it if someone sees you.

Hey! I'm young and I play! 17 believe it or not. I have been in this genre since 2009 and literally THIS. THIS happens. If I owned a cab, I wouldn't mind either cycling through baby power or Windex, it's all player preference. I say do what you want in my place.

Can i take your cab to my house then? My player preference is that the environment has to be in my house.

IF. Also, no. I'm keeping it in my house if I own one.

At least you'll have your house open for free play during some days, right?
Not to be condescending or anything but keeping a DDR machine in your house just so that you can play it all by yourself would really defeat the purpose for the machine's 'purpose' in a way, plus it would just be plain selfish not to at the very least invite friends/family/players to come and play. Not saying you would just hog the machine all by yourself since, well, you would OWN the machine and have every right to do so, but I know if I ever get a machine I'll definitely set up monthly/weekly open play sessions for mostly anyone, plus set up a few other rhythm games that I own if they don't want to solely play DDR
I have a local friend who owns his own DDR machine, but he converted into oITG (Open In The Groove Simply Love SM5 theme) and I actually am enjoying every Sunday-ish playing on his machine.
To stay on topic and to tag along the previous sentence, I don't think he's ever used Windex on his pads ever, however if he needs less friction and more slip on his feet, he applies baby powder on his carpeted floor first, then he rubs his shoes over the area he put the baby powder in, and just like that instant BEAST MODE activated. Primarily since his machine is oITG he plays the usual ITG 14's and 15's (DDR X scale 18's and 19's) so less friction on the pad = more maneuverability to step on arrows at a faster rate. I'm sure though that Windex or any alcoholic-cleaning substance will make the surface of the pad completely barren of dust and debris to be able to have more grip while playing.

I would allow players to come play if I owned one. When did I say I didn't?
