A few friends of mine have been watching american dubs over JAP. dubs in anime and I am just here to clear up something. Tally a vote to rather you would watch an anime in English Dub or Japanese Dub.
Personally I prefer Japanese,
JAP - 1

Dubs when I can. I only watch subs if dubs haven't been released or the dubbed voices are so awful that I can't bring myself to listen to them (only twice so far).

Only reason being is if I watch the originals, I tend to focus on the subtitles ONLY, not the scene as a whole. The English dubs fixes that for me and I am able to focus on the actual scene.

English just feels awkward to me (except in Eden of the East, that was good). Only thing I don't like about JP is when subtitles become spoilers.

That, unless the English dub is bad or terribly inaccurate. I watched 4Kids junk as a kid (Kirby, Sonic X) so besides never ever going back to dubs of that quality again, my standards are pretty low.
And I usually don't sit down and watch anime; I multitask, so reading subs is sometimes a bit of a hassle. But I do like picking up language bits from the shows, especially knowing people who are trying to learn Japanese/ know it already. I swear I don't weaboo-out the language. xP

Kinda surprised English won. I prefer JAP because like most animes with dubs over them, the voice ins are slightly unsynced and pesters the crap out of me because I am slightly OCD. Whenever I see curly lines or if there is a syncing problem I get pissed. Well no exactly but you get my point.

I honestly prefer japanese over english dubs. I grew up with DiC, 4Kids, Nelvana dubs and while they can create really nice fitting bgm for their dubs, the voices for almost every dub out there never appealed to me. Bleach's dub made it worse since they can't pronounce any of the spanish words for shit and it annoys the hell out of me. I'm also one of those few that can actually pay attention to the story, scene and subtitles at once. The japanese also seem to put much more feeling into their voice acting than a dub can.

I'm a purist, I have to watch the anime the way it was originally intended to be watched: in its native language. The only dubs I can say I prefer over the original Japanese would be Pokemon (before the voice actors changed), DBZ, and Yu Yu Hakusho.

Ugh... this is a hard decision for me. I like the Japanese dubs because I feel in most cases the voice actor playing the character tends have a larger range of emotion and can make some intense scenes really epic. On the other hand, I like the English dubs because it allows me to actually take notice of the animation and what is happening onscreen rather than reading the subtitles.
Although I think I will have to choose Japanese dubs as one could always re-watch the Japanese dubbed episode if they wanted to actually see what was happening on screen.
