3.9? No. Seriously. No. It's like Windows XP in my eyes, the one everyone still uses because they don't trust the new versions. It was good then, and may be still for some, but you've GOT to move towards the present. StepMania 5 in normal use is rather stable.
Unfortunately my transition to 5 has been really rough. I don't blame anyone for sticking with 3.9 for a bit longer.
Can you describe any of the problems you have been having? And have you reported any of them via the bug tracker?

Agreed. I like using the analogy of "Playstation 2" vs "Playstation 3" (Or XBox vs XBox 360 if you prefer). Yeah, the PS2 is still a solid console and it's still used by a lot of people today, but at some point you have to move on and get a PS3, since that's where all the new content is being focused. Even though the PS3 has its kinks, the overall quality of the system more than makes up for any minor flaws it may have.

I managed to solve them the other day. I posted a lot in the waiei thread a few months back. It was something to do with the alpha I was using and possibly certain settings in the ini not being updated. Was incredibly baffling for me.

I do believe the download on this thread is from a separate link (on MediaFire, not Dropbox)
By the way I'm actually planning on rebuilding the theme from scratch, eventually.

why? Firstly, I've learned some slightly better and more efficient ways to do certain things (mainly from the DDR '09 theme)
Secondly, its because a sequel's afoot!

Registering and posting in thread to keep track of the project. This looks good, hopefully I'll manage to run it in Linux (there's no changes in the Stepmania binaries, right ?)

Actually, I've received reports that the theme unfortunately does not quite work on StepMania 5 Beta. I don't know why, but I will investigate.
(I recently switched computers, still kinda settling in)

Just tried it, and it seems to work just fine on my setup
I'm using
I'm not too fond the DDR X2-like wheel, though, and its square banners. Even on a 16:9 display, it always seems that less items are displayed than in the "old" style (ie DDR Max); I could be mistaken. That, and the fact I'm used to scanning the songs on a vertical column. ;)
I'm using

Actually, SM5 Alpha 2 was what I built it on.

I might be a bit late to the party, but I made an announcer pack to go with Trotmania. It has about 300 sound clips from the show. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for your excellent work.

edit: The original MLP announcer pack is by the illustrious Dreamland200. I have merely expanded upon his noble work.

Looks like improved MLP announcer v1 + v2. Great.
I like that is doesnt such low amounts of "gameplay comment good" sounds.
You can also try to normalize volume (around 95db) with http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net
Thanks for the announcer, I will test is soon

Worry not, you are listed up front in the readme. I didn't want to make my post too long and rambling, and I didn't know your account on this site. I have clarified my original post. But yeah, Dreamland200 made the MLP announcer pack. I expanded on it, doubling the number of sound files and tweaking it a bit.

I did use Mp3Gain to adjust the volume levels to something that sounds good to me. The mp3s vary a bit, but average about 97db. Does something sound wrong with them?Post #96 · Posted at 2013-03-18 12:06:07am 11.2 years ago

I just love the theme! But I keep getting this error when trying to access the options menu after selecting a song. This message pops up:
I am using SM5 Beta 1, and playing windowed at 800x600 resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. Anyone know if it's the build itself or the theme? Either way, this is great. When not trying to access the menu, everything works perfectly. Keep it up!

Metric "ScreenOptionsMaster::Remove" is missing. Correct this and click Retry, or Cancel to break.

SM5 beta 1a quick-fix
Since a certain "Player" is head over heels in love with this theme, I went ahead and tried to do an initial super-quick-fix for the "ScreenOptionsMaster::Remove" crash that appears in SM5 beta 1a when trying to access the song options screen.
Add this in the metrics.ini of this theme:
[ScreenOptionsMaster]
Remove="8;selectmultiple"
RemoveDefault="mod,no little,no nojumps,no nohands,no noquads,no nostretch,no norolls,no nolifts,no nofakes"
Remove,1="mod,little;name,Little"
Remove,2="mod,nojumps;name,NoJumps"
Remove,3="mod,nohands;name,NoHands"
Remove,4="mod,noquads;name,NoQuads"
Remove,5="mod,nostretch;name,NoStretch"
Remove,6="mod,norolls;name,NoRolls"
Remove,7="mod,nolifts;name,NoLifts"
Remove,8="mod,nofakes;name,NoFakes"
Also I noticed that some menu elements appeared in the gameplay screen and broke the lifebar meter. So to prevent that from happening, just add the following under the tag "[ScreenWithMenuElementsBlank]" in the metrics.ini file:
ShowHeader=false
ShowFooter=false
The theme should now be as playable and as unfinished as it was in alpha 2, more or less. (You still have to enter the song options screen in order to remove the black background element that appears during gameplay).
PLEASE NOTE:
I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE IN THEMING (well, except for the couple of hours I spent doing this), SO USE THIS FIX AT YOUR OWN RISK! THIS IS STILL A SM5 alpha 2 THEME AND MAY BREAK OTHER VERSIONS OF STEPMANIA.

Also, the beta version of Trotmania Chrystalize has been release in the respective thread that is made for SM5 Beta1, perhaps you might want to look into that version too.

TM1 is no longer supported. Go for Chrystalize instead.
