It's like, I did grow up with the original Genesis Sonic games, and I do still enjoy most of them more than the majority of 3D Sonic games. But If I wanted to play them that badly, I'd just go play on them on my Genesis. The fact that 99% of its hype is coming from people who had zero issues with the Adventure series until the stupid ass Game Grumps made a video where Egoraptor didn't like it doesn't exactly make me want to play it at all.
But gee, thanks for making me feel like even more of an outcast over not creaming myself over it (not you, Jeff) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
For what it's worth, I think Forces also looks pretty silly

I feel like Generation's success was mostly because of all the nostalgia behind it. It was a cool idea but I think with Forces, you are taking the rose tinted glasses off. Generations was a good game but it had its flaws I think ended up being overlooked because of nostalgia. I hope it does good but I can still see Forces being just ok at best as well.
Meanwhile, I just pre-ordered Sonic Mania on PS4.

I still see plenty of people shitting on Generations for not being a 2D Genesis Sonic game. The whole stigma against 3D Sonic didn't seem to be nearly as prevalent until Egoraptor said he didn't like Adventure and then every other person followed suit.
I'm not even saying I like most 3D Sonic games because most of them do suck shit. But I'm just calling it like I see it.

I've heard people complain about Adventure before the Game Grumps because the version they always port over and what everyone plays now is the DX version, that's somehow even glitchier than the original version. That's likely the version everyone has played that did not have a Dreamcast and of course, that's the version Game Grumps played, so now everyone thinks that's how buggy the game is and has always been. The Dreamcast version Sonic Adventure was not THAT bad or glitchy, DX is just a very bad port.I'm not even saying I like most 3D Sonic games because most of them do suck shit. But I'm just calling it like I see it.

I hated the camera in DX, but it happens in the original as well.

Wow people still shitting on Generations!? They must've not played the 3DS version that felt like 2D, but seriously they should be thankful that we got something decent and plus you can play the original Sonic The Hedgehog from the Genesis on there. My god how pathetic.
And granted everyone is entitled to their own opinion (yea that wat meme was a joke I was joking about that), but they shouldn't let a popular Youtuber persuade them to share the same hate. I think I seen the entire Game Grump play through and that has not dissuade me one bit. I've played Sonic Adventure when it came out back in '99 and I enjoyed it, I even played DX on GC and like that too.

That's the Sonic fanbase, they'll complain about anything.

I knew how flawed Sonic Adventure was before the whole Egoraptor thing. Had revisited the game and encountered a couple of unintentional glitches that really screwed me over, like falling through loop de loops and other areas to your death. The cutscenes are also extremely laughably bad. It's a pretty clunky game, but I can still enjoy it somewhat, since it was a childhood.
I recently gave Sonic Adventure 2 an honest go, and frankly didn't have a good time with it. I found it clunky, cramped and all over the place. The cutscenes are just as laughable, and the lack of a character select and hub means levels are very inconsistent, switching gameplay styles pretty abruptly. The Sonic levels themselves aren't that great either, and it just felt pretty dated.
As a kid I gave up on Sonic Heroes because I hated dying in a level and having to go all the way to the beginning or a checkpoint and listen to the same dialogue over and over and over during a level (this seems to be coming back for Forces...) the voice acting was also very annoying and I knew this even as a kid. The team mechanic was interesting, but nothing extraordinary.
I never got the chance to play Sonic 06, Unleashed, Secret Rings or Black Knight, so nothing on those, besides playing the first level of Unleashed, which was great, and Secret Rings, which was meh. Sonic 06's intro is gorgeous, but out of place for a Sonic game, and I know enough about the storyline to stay away from that.
Sonic Colors was decent and had a nice amount of levels, but too many of them had too much 2d sections or were entirely 2d, which was very clunky in the Hedgehog Engine. I recently got Generations on PC in glorious 60fps. It's pretty great, but of course Classic Sonic is no Genesis game. It's good enough though, but it might as well be a big Modern Sonic 2d section without the boosting and better physics. Also, I had it on PS3 beforehand. That kind of framerate in a Sonic game should be illegal.
That's my opinion on the 3D Sonic games I've played, not influenced by Egoraptor at all, although I do agree that 06 is rather similar to Adventure, only more ambitious and much, much worse (from what I've seen). Egoraptor's high standards for games and cockiness are very annoying and can get in the way of enjoying a Game Grumps video for me.
As for 3D Sonic, I feel like he's never gotten the chance to be fully fleshed out. There is always some sort of alternate playstyle or some mechanic or another set of characters getting in the way of perfecting 3D Sonic himself and his gameplay. The extra characters in Sonic Adventure were neat because you could choose, but Adventure 2 crammed them inbetween the Sonic gameplay, as did Heroes with the team mechanics, as did Unleashed with the Werehog, as did Colors with the wisps and the 2D sections, as did Generations with Classic Sonic, and as it seems, as will Forces yet again.
On another note, I'm seriously aching to see some more Mania levels before I preorder. NEW levels, not remakes. Gimme at least 8 new zones and I'm sold.

you might be pushing it to get a preorder. The game is out in one week. At this point you might just as well purchase when the game arrives.Appended 8/12/17
WELL FUCK!
Sure I still get my preorder, but can't play til Aug 29th.
I hope the Sonic 1 download is the Christian Whitehead version and not the other versions.

There was going to be a 3DS port at some point but it's currently unknown as of right now, going to purchase the game on Steam when it launches.

I've been playing Mania with my older brother. The Sonic Genesis and Dreamcast titles were both big parts of our childhood. It's been really nice to enjoy a fresh Sonic game with him again. His reaction when he found out Flying Battery was in the game was beautiful.

I just about died when I saw that boss.
Also is there an OST for this game?

There's supposed to be a vinyl LP released at some point, but you can always go on YouTube and convert the videos into MP3s. Most, if not all, of the songs from the game are uploaded on there now.
