There are a couple of CLUB ver. songs in DDRMAX CS (US), some of which would never appear in a DDR game again, and because these songs appeared before 3rd Mix, they don't have Expert Double charts. Instead of doing what they did with EXTREME and making new Expert Double charts for these songs, they just duplicated the Standard Double charts and called it a day, which is really goddamn lazy. It would have been very interesting to see how they could have made harder charts for songs like 22DUNK or DEEP IN YOU which already have very hard Standard Double charts.
OR you just revive some Club version songs in AC DDR you cowards
Isn’t that just how they did it back then in general? When did the 1st and 2nd Mix songs get maniac double charts?OR you just revive some Club version songs in AC DDR you cowards
Most of them got their Maniac Double charts in 4th Mix, because 2nd Mix mode was removed (which is why they didn't immediately get them in 3rd mix)
a few ones got them in different games (for example, Tubthumping got it's Maniac Double chart in EuroMIX 1)

Technically it was but it was during a time when they weren’t making new arcade versions worldwide. Dive is in Festival which didn’t have an arcade version and Dancing Stage Fusion including it’s arcade version.
It was in Extreme 2 too, I just wasn't counting CS games (and Fusion AC is basically a glorified CS game). I can see why DIVE didn't get revived in EXTREME AC but it's odd that they never revived it in X2 with some of the other BeForU songs. At the very least it deserves a revival more than Under the Sky.
Like, DIVE TO THE NIGHT is by far the worst version of that song and somehow it's the only one still in AC DDR, lol.

Yeah I would say it qualifies as lazy then. I had forgotten that 3rd Mix AC didn’t have the 3rd Remix mode the PS1 version had that included all the 2nd Mix mode songs.a few ones got them in different games (for example, Tubthumping got it's Maniac Double chart in EuroMIX 1)

I'd love to know why Double-Beginner has yet to be implemented in any sort of mainline DDR release ever.

Songs like Strictly Business and Tubthumping, and later Fevah in SN2 CS bothered me with their choice of what beat their measures started. I'm so used to seeing songs' measures normally go like this:
--MEASURE 1--
Beat 1
Beat 2
Beat 3
Beat 4
--MEASURE 2--
Beat 1
Beat 2
Beat 3
Beat 4
and so on.
However, those three songs' measures would start somewhere else like Strictly Business's measure started on Beat 4, Tubthumping's on Beat 2, and Fevah's on Beat 3. You can see Training Mode as a guide.
I'm aware that Strictly Business and Tubthumping had that fixed since 3rdMIX, but as a kid playing DDR 1st and 2nd ReMIX, that mismatch threw me off a lot.

Oh, I got one. Having to hold down the left and right buttons before pressing the green button. Hey, thanks Konami for allowing me to play one song on doubles with my full price credit.
Granted it was within the bungholery that was the midlife of the arcade games and I remember/am aware that GFDM, DanceManiax and probably others had this quirk before Konami decided that maybe simplifying settings were better rather than showing off what modes the arcade games had depending on what button/s you pressed.
There's probably more things that bug me, but this is what I got off the top of my head.

I got the urge to play Konamix today and man, not using the 5th Mix engine was a huge missed opportunity here (as well as for all the PS1 European releases that were watered down versions of the PS2 Dancing Stage titles). The 5th Mix CS released 7 months before Konamix and Konamix had zero new content (a lot of the songs were new to the US but none were new songs to the series). Like, it couldn't have taken them more than a week to ctrl+c/ctrl+v all those songs into the game, there are even 5th Mix songs in it. There was no reason for this.

Play Hard in A20 uses the original version instead of the "New Edit."
This is more of an opinion, but I would've preferred the newer version instead of the original.
There's that and the fact that it uses the wrong version of Nothing But The Beat for the jacket. In the game, it uses the artwork of the standard edition but the song first appeared on the 2.0 re-release which has slightly different artwork:

Hitting the green button on a DDR cabinet, even by accident, does not allow you to revert back to the song list, as far as I know. Ouch, that really bugs me.

In the older games that would make sense, because each screen (music select, options, etc.) has its own individual timer, so being able to revert back would allow you to have infinite selection time.
In the newer games however, that seems really annoying and illogical because they all share the same timer...

Regarding jackets. It's annoying any time a licensed song doesn't use it's single jacket and instead uses the EP jacket. Then you get instances like the last few CS games where the same jacket shows up multiple games in a row or even in the same game twice.

Here's one to crossover with IIDX (kinda.) DDRMAX2 gave us Burning Heat (3 Option Mix), but why does it exist? It's just a shorter version of Burning Heat (Full Option Mix) from IIDX, which is already a short-ish song just under 2 minutes...

Engine limitations and restraints made it so most songs had to be around 1:30 regardless. We never really got anything that broke that mold until EXTREME, and look at how much they had to gimp the game to make the amount of content work. They wanted Burning Heat in DDR, they had to cut it short. Now that the engine has improved and much longer songs have been added since, I do find it odd that Konami never went back and gave the older songs their proper long cuts, but I guess they're preserved like that for posterity. Or laziness. Would be nice to have the full cuts of Dragon Blade and 怒れる大きな白い馬 and whatnot in the series.

I presume for the time (DDRMAX2) if Burning Heat was crossed over fully intact, Konami's staff thought it would've been only one tiny step below the difficulty level of the two hardest existing songs, MAX 300 and MAXX Unlimited. Think how Healing Vision (Angelic Mix) is sort of a 9.5 in a game that only had 9s and 10s. It's basically another SO DEEP or Healing Vision Angelic, but maybe would've been even harder than those two if the full version was used.
Also, it allowed them to do a cute reference by making it 3 Option Mix because Options in Gradius games usually max out at four, so the title basically means one level below the Full Option.

It mildly pisses me off when someone plays singles alone on the right pad.
There's literally nothing wrong with it, but I just hate it for some reason.
You know I'm never going to stop, now. There's literally nothing wrong with it, but I just hate it for some reason.
Also, never loved the UNIVERSE series setting BPMs to min at 0 when there's stops in them. I know it's a nice way to identify stops on the Select Music screen, but...that's not how tempos work. Also what in the hell is up with Insaner remix's BPM counter, it throws a random ass number at the screen that doesn't fit anything at all.
Also, also, never liked the Cytokinesis speed-up. It feels better being one big-boy speed up instead of being split in the middle like that.

That, sadly was not the only case. I still remember Whip It having a display BPM of 131-198 despite the song's real bpm is just floating around 158.
