I know I may feel stupid typing this thread, but I just want to know, are there any compatible or at least playable BEMANI games on the MAME emulator? I know that Beatmania mixes 1st through THE FINAL work perfectly, but is there any playable state BEMANI game on MAME? I'm just curious to know.

I've been waiting for emulation for Pop 'n Stage, Dance Maniax, and many other more advanced Bemani games for a long time now. Guess we'll have to donate drive for the effort.

There are only some BEMANI games that will work with MAME.

As I looked through some BEMANI games on MAME, I found that some titles that are marked as not working do kinda work, they just need more work put into them, for example: ParaParaParadise. The boot screen fails due to a "hardware error", but I looked through a video on how to get it working, and I managed to get to the title screen. The gameplay is unplayable, but menus and other parts of the game do work.
As I said before, it does work, but the gameplay just won't work and will make you fail the stage.

So ParaParaParadise? It doesn't work, but as I saw on a video, PPP 1st mix Plus does work gameplay wise, but MAME keeps telling me I don't have the sufficient resources to run the game, even though I do have them. So once I get that working, I will determine if it's playable or not.

The Background video already works on ParaParaParadise, but it is a little glitchy due to the gameplay being very glitchy and needs fixing, as I saw in the video on how to get PPP to work, the video playing from the song does work. However, the game that was being played was PPP 1st Mix Plus, so I guess it would come to terms that even the original PPP already has BG videos working, because PPP 1st Plus is a clone of the original PPP.Here is the video I was talking about:

Somebody has been working on getting the IIDX games on Twinkle hardware emulated on MAME. It's not quite there yet but looks somewhat playable. Her channel is here.
Edit: The first 3 pop'n games are also playable on MAME since they run off the same hardware as the beatmania games.

Speaking of MAME BEMANI emulation, I gotta wonder what ever happened to SMF, who seemed to be doing an insane amount of the work on Bemani System573 emulation...

and GUITARFREAKS 1st ~2nd.
(GF 3rd~11th have no background music but otherwise are working. dm 1st~3rd are no objects like DDR 3rd~EXTREME. 4th~10th aren't working at all because session box isn't emulated.

Doing a little Googling, I saw a post somewhere with a guy claiming that a possible workaround would be to manipulate the audio data in the games themselves - changing their format to the audio format used in analog mixes (and I think the person had a little success) - in a way, reminiscent (for me) of what I had to do to get custom audio working in PS2 mixes. Lemme see if I can find the thread, as contacting this person could be interesting if the ramblings are correct.

I heard about the development in IIDX emulation, didn't think it'd get into a MAME release )so relatively soon)! That's effing awesome!
Wish 573 emulation / getting digital mixes working was next, but still, this is really damn cool.

Wow this is great news! Didn't know people were actively working on fixing these... here's me hoping again for Pop'n Music Animelo 2, I almost feel nostalgic lol

IIDX in MAME, some UI select music is gliches (e.g. mode select music), Sync is not correct (like IIDX 3rd~8th in PCSX2), No videos (but layers are available) but oterwise are playable, even song LED is available.
It's too sad sync of bgm and key sounds are not correct.
Edit: R. Belmont says 'try with the portaudio driver' to run IIDX in MAME. I'll try again when I'll be back home.
Edit again: It doesn't help the audio sync. Correct sync at the start point but eventually faster key sound than bg audio.

When it comes to System573 emulation, I believe it's emulation of the MAS 3507-D chip, which is used to convert digital to analog audio, that is keeping sound emulation for music in DDR mixes, etc, from working, is that correct?

drummania 1stMIX doesn't work as for 2ndMIX it works but it shows error call assistance after few moments. As for 3rdMIX, it is all working fine. For 4thMIX till 10thMIX, requires to activate a cheat to bypass error. 8thMIX shows an error right after you pick BONUS TRACK mode. 9th till 10thMIX music unlock maybe still in progress because some of the music requires an e-AMUSEMENT account to play it due to hardware space shortage. Autoplay works from 4thMIX till 10thMIX.
