Not to mention, the issue about files being in wrong folders that I have posted year ago kinda went under-radar?
HYSTERIA made its main series debut in 4thMIX. Therefore, it goes into the 4thMIX folder with the rest of the Solo transplants.Post #262 · Posted at 2021-04-07 08:11:52pm 3.4 years ago

Graphics aside, official files from 1 to Supernova era have another problem - mixed difficulties in same packs. It would be nice to either bring the old scale for the files that had it or/and offer additional option of having everything re-evaluated into X scale. This is what StepF2 / PumpPro+ does with official Pump simfiles from older mixes. I think a project like this wouldn't be a bad idea, especially for the AC mixes.
I kinda prefer how ZIV handles categories over DDRUK since a first appearance isn't necessarily the mix that people associate the song with.

Thanks, but I'm already getting that under control.

Because currently they would have to throw whole 4th mix in, instead of just the SOLO folder. Altough I do really appreciate the input on case after the time

This. As someone in whose country there is/was nothing above EuroMix 2, I would very much appreciate original scale files with proper timing (instead of using the old DDRUK or the mixed difficulty ZIV).

It's easier to throw all solo files into 4th Mix, rather than pick one-by-one folders from 4th Mix to make a solo folder. At least that's how I see it.

Additionally, mixed ratings between the 1-10 and 1-20 scale is due to some older songs appearing in games that use the 1-20 scale (mainly the DDR X location test, as many songs that were supposed to appear in X eventually got axed, as well as X3 vs 2ndMIX's Dancemania licenses, since they also appeared in the X3 mode.) That, and the actual calculations for the 1-20 scale conversion is a bit wonky once you get to the higher levels, which is why many simfiles that did not appear in games using the 1-20 scale use the 1-10 scale.
Whoops, did not see later replies. My mistake!

HYSTERIA made its main series debut in 4thMIX. Therefore, it goes into the 4thMIX folder with the rest of the Solo transplants. The easiest way to handle this is that mods can sort simfiles on his website how they want and we can sort simfiles in our own personal Stepmania on our own PC how we want. That's how I've been doing it for years now without coming here to tell everyone else they are wrong for how they folder their songs. I mean, it's literally drag and drop. We aren't forced to keep them in the same folders they're in on this site. We can easily move them around. I'm sure it would give some of you a minor heart attack but I just have one Solo folder despite there being two solo games. I also only have one Hottest Party folder, one Ultramix folder, and one Universe folder, since there are really only about enough songs between all games in those series that I want to warrant one folder per series. I'm sure there are people here who have Hysteria in their Max 2 folder since that's the game they played it in first. I promise it's fine.

The pertinent thing here is that the Solo songs go in 4thMIX and the Club songs go to 2ndMIX in the arcade versions since DDR X (so, well over a decade), and arcade accuracy is what is prioritized with the simfiles.

That all goes out the window when you look at an Extreme cab. I think the better way to say it is that songs will be moved to reflect where the most recent arcade version says they debuted, and that's fine but a general statement that this is where arcade versions say they go isn't true because arcade versions are inconsistent. Also keep in mind that if you do this on your personal Stepmania you won't have your score for the songs you move when they're in the new folder.Post #270 · Posted at 2021-04-08 02:53:09pm 3.4 years ago

I've edited the first post to clarify, but the arcade versions have been consistent for 13 years now. The only significant change since DDR X was that Let the Beat Hit 'em (Classic R&B Style) was mistakenly considered as its original in X and was thus put in 4th MIX, with this being corrected in X2.Post #271 · Posted at 2021-04-08 02:58:45pm 3.4 years ago

Just out of curiosity, is there a reason why we're using 512×160 as the resolution for all banners instead of 256×80?

Song jackets that are 512x512 or higher allows for higher quality banners. It was a standard implemented in the A20 / A20 PLUS categories, so we're updating X2 - A to receive the same treatment.

I'm going through everything and updating my simfiles since I haven't done so in like 7 years at this point, and just a heads up but Sexy Planet and Celebrate Nite don't download with the 4th Plus pack, you have to catch that they didn't and download them separately. Everything else seems to be there though.
Edit: DDR Max 2 US PS2 has a lot more songs in the pack than it lists on the page for individual download, which is both good because I was wondering where those songs went and bad because someone might not think to download the pack.

Out of curiosity, the 512x512 format also applies to older songs? Because from what I understand, older DDR graphics were in a much lower resolution than what is used now (I think 3 times as small). I passed a jacket through Waifu2x and while it does look passable, you can notice some artifacts when that jacket was upscaled

So head's up, Maniac Mode was discovered as a secret unlock in Disney's Rave for both AC and JP CS in the last couple days. With that discovery is a few songs that had previously undocumented Maniac charts (as the US/EU CS releases did not have these songs).
I Want You Back
Let's Groove
Macarena
Superstition
Surfin' U.S.A
Twilight Zone
Vacation
ELECTRICAL PARADE [Retro Future Mix]
Information on the unlock methods is on remywiki:

https://remywiki.com/CS_DDR_Disney%27s_RAVE
Honestly crazy to think of new charts being discovered in a 20 year old game!

Very likely going to be the first time 99% of the community has seen any of these charts, as the AC code requires operator menu access and the CS code is HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Exciting stuff.

512x512 jackets for older songs that only have 256x256 ones will most likely have to be custom made. Waifu2x, while a good resource to use, can only be used for a select few graphics to upscale. For example, I ended up using it to get Strobe Girl's 512 jacket. I used the 452 jacket from SOUND VOLTEX, upscaled it via Waifu2x by 1.6x, and then reduced it back down to 512 to get this beauty:
BUMP: 2014 graphics are mostly overhauled; uploaded. There's still some stuff to be done (mostly banners), so refer to my checklist here: https://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/thread?threadid=755&page=13#p441834

The banner and background file names referenced in the .sm for No Limit (RM Remix) from 5th Mix point to incorrect file names that want a space in between "No Limit" and "(RM Remix)" but the file names are "No Limit(RM Remix)" causing the banner and BG to show the theme defaults. This was easy enough for me to fix but I just figured I would point it out while the simfiles are being worked on.
