So far, in my experience, only around 7% of all people I've ever interacted in the Bemani fandom were toxic. But a recent uncalled for personal attack in Reddit by a Californian DanceRush/iidx player in his 30s (biologically, anyway), as well as accounts from another Bemani friend of mine, made me wonder if toxicity and drama like that is actually nothing new in this fandom, which I seem to have learned the hard way.
Have you dealt with at least one toxic person in the Bemani fandom? Or even the entire rhythm game community?

It's one of the less toxic bases I know. There's certainly dicks in there, but that's humanity, every community will inevitably attract them when it gets big enough.

That is interesting since Redditors tend to act like they are better than us. Whoever he is, he is not making his group look good.

If you dumpster-dive into the BEMANI community enough you're bound to find some crazy shit. But on a scale of "Wholesome Babey Rowlet" to "Smash Bros. Melee", it's in the middle. Dickheads exist, and who is a dickhead or not is almost completely up to personal opinion. I think there've been quite a few controversies specifically within the DDR community over the past few years regarding predators and the like have been a good thing to expose those who truly mean harm, while I also can't stand the people who think "they made an offensive shitpost on MGH - ban from all events in NA".
Also, "7%"? Now I'm actually intrigued as to if you've compiled some kind of data about this.

I am the toxic person. I am the radioactive slime. I am what the things you fear are scared of.

The bemani fandom is better than >90% of all videogame communities.

It's just a subjective rough estimation.

I mean, I haven't heard any reports about the bemani community grooming or sexually assaulting children so I think the bemani community is ok when comparing it to other communities.
The bemani commnunity loves its gossip and trashy verbal harassment however. Or is it typing harassment since its on a forum?

I know better than to disclose this person's identity and turn this into a witch hunting thread, but one hint is this: he goes under the exact same alias as one Bemani artist.

I was on a DDR forum years ago and there really wasn't much toxicity there. And I haven't seen any here so far while browsing the forums. From what I have seen, the Benami community isn't much toxic at all.
Especially compared to some things I've seen on Wikipedia and GameFAQs.

I mean... are you at least aware of what happened with Anthony from Tokyo Attack?

Unfortunately it's not just us no-name people that do this, genuine TOs and *throws up in own mouth* cOmMuNiTy LeAdErS like to do it too.
