So did anyone play DDR on this fine Wednesday Halloween? Luckily it seems like the holiday reduced the usual crowd at D&B, so I mostly had the machine to myself.
Of course, I had to play this song, and by god is it rough for a 14.

It's Ace timing. I played Beautiful Dream EDP on DDR selection and got a record low 14p; It'd be double that if I actually played 2014.
Also, 1stMIX had really strict timing and pretty sure I wouldn't get a AAA first try if that were the case.

Heck if I know. It seems to feel smoother playing but can't really back that up.

Random question, but am I the only one who thinks Twilight Zone (from DDRMAX) and Techno Syndrome (Mortal Kombat Theme) sounds alike? I honestly don't know the information behind that...

I thought they were the same song for a long time.

I kinda want to take a stab at reviewing the DDR CS games again. Only thing is that I'd only be able to record footage of the PS1 games and the few games they had for 360/PS3. Am sad.
X2 CS is better than people give it credit for.

I would like to hear your reasoning for this, since I am of the persuasion that X2 CS is far and away the worst US PS2 game, way in front of Supernova 2 CS US.Post #211 · Posted at 2018-11-06 12:33:19am 5.6 years ago

I played the hell out of X2 for a long time after it came out, but wow it was not a good way for DDR to go out on the PS2. Baffling revivals, easy licenses, bad difficulty curve (seriously there's no 16's in the game and an 18 with shock arrows), MFC missions, just less songs in total than any other US PS2 mix.
Love the theme, though.

Just a friendly reminder that due to Daylight Savings Time ending, the next game will be revealed one hour earlier. (8 PM ET, 7 PM CT, 5 PM PT)

Got a question for everyone: what was the last song you genuinely failed? That means outside of LIFE4, risky, and 19 difficulty songs, because it's normal to fail those.
I tried Possession DP and got to the stepjump part before dying. Last time I actually failed a song was back when I just started DDR A, so believe it or not it felt great to fail for real, as now I have something to study for.

New Generation earlier because my legs straight up stopped moving. Playing while feeling kinda sick was not the best idea. Could definitely AA it under normal circumstances.

I tried Lovely Radio last week and it was NOT fun. At all. I didn't make it to the first chorus before I was on the ground heaving. I didn't think it would be that bad of a song since I have a clear on Max 300, Life is Beautiful and Emera under my belt recently, but that was a totally different kind of beast.

RE: EXTREME USA
TBH, it's my favorite version of 4th Mix out there. My thing with it was that it borrowed WAAAAY too much from the PS1 games that US already had; and it probably didn't help that I had JP 3rd Mix and 4th Mix...
RE: DDR X2 USA
I played the game more than I probably should've. There's a fair grip of banger tracks on it; but it does have a dip in the popular 13-17 difficulty range... and the dual-level Extra Stage/OMES doesn't play well with it (although you can compensate by getting a AAA on final stage). But also, Dice Master Mode was... weird as fuck to try and complete. And fuck whoever thought Pluto the First/DEGRS would make a good Extra/Encore Stage.
My first boss song was DROP OUT, back when that *was* a boss song (Solo 2000); but if you're talking the 15-and-up-now batch, then MAX 300 because I'm old as dirt like that.
Last song I failed was just the learning process of Cosy Catastrophe, which has become easily one of my favorite DDR A tracks.
I have a lot to catch up on, sometime. That new Triple Counter event with Rejoin and Prey was the last thing on when I played last, and Vanquish the Monkey was still a thing...

other than the songs in supernova 1 and 2, which song on the old scale was the most misrated for you? for me it was crazy love on basic which feels more like a 4 than a 6

Of songs that I actually played pre-X, I'll always say Sunkiss Drop. Even in the old scale it probably should have been closer to a 9 if Orion can be a 9 without being nearly as stamina draining.

sunkiss drop is from supernova 2 which is infamous for misrating songs so how about one not from supernova 1 or 2
